This is a basic analysis on Grimnir, the main villain of Magicka 1 vs Lok, the main villain of Magicka 2, probably the magicka fight I'd be most interested to see. This isn't gonna be saying so much who I think would win, so much as it is me just going over the points and advantages they have each other. For just a quick thing on who they are:
Grimnir is the main villain of Magicka 1. A magical prodigy who spent his time endless researching the depths of arcane lore, he came to hate the silly chaotic nature of being, the senselessness of all the violence and nonsense and so sought to wield powers beyond mortal comprehension.
Lok is the main villain of Magicka 2. After the devastating wizard wars, the excess chaotic destructive energy infused itself into the infant Lok granting her unparalleled magical potential. Raised by the Vanir and inspired by the Wizards, Lok sought to unite the war-torn Midgard under her prosperous rule.
A battle between these two to a casual might seem like a magicka battle of pure skill vs power although it's a bit more complex then that.
So I'm going to go over some comparisons between them:
Power: This one Lok has the advantage in regardless of if you go by direct feats or by scaling. The feats of most wizards in are in the tens to hundreds of tons of tnt range while Lok has feats in the tens of kilotons range. Technically you could maybe get Grimnir into the single digit kiloton range going by scaling to Azimuth. Azimuth was an extremely powerful wizard who moved a hilltop in battle, and possibly a mountain while she was using the Staff of Imbalance which multiplied her power by 10. Grimnir would very likely scale to base Azimuth, being as skilled as she was even when he was a student which could be single digit kiloton. This is consistent with him empowering an unknown but presumably large number of Warlocks to having the level of power of a wizard though he certainly doesn't scale to Azimuth with the Staff of Imbalance and Lok's nuclear feat is 14 kilotons of tnt worth. Lok might also just outright scale to Staff of Imbalance Azimuth as Vlad was one of the 4 wizards who stopped Azimuth yet despite knowing how powerful his pupils were he thought the ONLY way for them to stop Lok was by getting the Deflector magic. This fits in with the lore where Grimnir is considered an extremely powerful wizard in a verse where a 10x power boost is considered a forbidden level of power, while Lok has the raw magical power of all the fighters in a wizard war consisting of thousands of wizards.
Skill: Grimnir is arguably the most skilled wizard in the entire Magicka series. The novel is constantly hyping up how skilled Grimnir is and how he understand the elements greater then anyone else. He also does these superhuman feats that no one else demonstrates like casting magic without invocation, hand motions or a staff while tied up at World's End, leading his fellow students through a death course that was supposed to be impossible, and copying a spell invocation, the most powerful in the series after seeing it only once. He also equaled Azimuth when he was just a student, Azimuth stated to be before his generation be able to beat any wizard one on one, and probably beat any 4 by herself. Now in all fairness to Lok, she actually probably has better skill scaling then people might think. Not only did Ellin teach Lok the skill of the Vala she was able to at least hold her own in a magic duel against the Player Wizards, characters who did beat Grimnir twice, though he was bound at the time. That said Lok seems to mostly be just focusing her sheer magical potential compared to Grimnir the living skill meme of Magicka.
So overall yes, this is a fight where one side clearly has power, and the other has skill, although in both cases, the other shouldn't be discounted. Grimnir isn't just a nerd who wins solely by outthinking his way out of a problem, he's probably one of the most powerful normal wizards, able to empower an army of warlocks into becoming wizard level. Conversely, Lok isn't just a brute who wins by throwing her magic power around, she's probably one of the highest tier magical duelists using the skill of the Vanir and was able to fight the magical protectors of the world herself.
Going over some of their other comparisons:
Telepathic Sensing: Grimnir has the ability to sense magic and would immediatly sense Lok's massive power level, and consequently her threat level. Conversely Lok can sense lifeforce, the threat level and to some degree the nature of a person. While she might underestimate him slightly if she senses his power is signifigantly lower, she will at least sense it's quite above most wizards, as well as his sinister nature. As a consquence, I don't think either would underestimate the other one, not that this is particular in their character, and manpulation is probably not a viable strategy.
Intelligence: This one depends on category. Grimnir without question has better understanding of magic from an academic sense. Not only does he have more extensive training but it's constantly hyped up in the novel how much he understands the elements, how he can seamlessly merge himself with them. Lok conversely has the advantage in scientific knowledge, able to create advanced machines by herself including her golem, and other robots and aI.
Versatility: This is an interesting one. Obviously Lok has access to far more elements. While Grimnir is a master of the 8 elements, Lok commands dozens of elements. However Lok doesn't seem to know the magicka, which Grimnir has devoted himself to finding all of them, an amount equating to hundreds. Given Lok can actually replicate several magicka with her elements, I'm inclinded to think the two are probably comparably versatile.
Vortex: Grimnir most likely knows the infamous Vortex magicka, as he can use spells after seeing them once, and he saw vortex being used and controlled up close. However Lok can replicate the effects of vortex with Singularity Magic and it's implied Vortex wouldn't even work on Lok as Vlad thought it would have been impossible to beat her without the even stronger Disruptor magic.
Mind Duel/Prison Serenity Orb: Both characters have what is very likely a one-shot move. Grimnir can draw enemies into his mind to engage them in a mind duel, a test of mental strength. Lok can use the prison orb to trap an enemy inside a void where magic can't be used. This is tricky because both are potentially avoidable although highly difficult. Grimnir could if he sees the prison orb being used teleport out of range. Likewise it's possible Lok could break out of a mind duel, though it depends on whose mind you think is stronger which is a bit hard to tell because it depends on what you're judging on.
Grimnir Duplication: Grimnir can create intangible floating copies of himself. This would make it signifigantly more difficult to fight him.
Lok's hypothetical scaling: There's an argument Lok>Assatur>Grimnir. Lok>Assatur is an interesting proposition because it seems bizarre but the argument comes from how the Wizards can beat Assatur and learned Vortex but needed Deflector to beat Assatur. However it should be noted Assatur ONLY beat Grimnir while he was bound. It's possibly Grimnir who was able to give the wizards a good fight while bound could beat an enemy they also beat.
Overall I'm not really sure who wins this, I think you COULD make an argument for either, these are just the most important arguments for either as far as I know.
So CBR released an article called "Cardcaptor Sakura: Sakura VS Usagi - Who Would Win?" CBR does not have a great track record for talking about vs debating or magical girls. I've considered making a response to one of their articles for a while now but never really felt it worth the effort. However given this is the fight I wanted more then any other, I suppose this is as good of one to start with as any. Feel free to tell me if you like this style or not.
I have not read this article yet, I'm gonna be responding to their points as I go. I will be using and assuming that they mean the canonical versions of both Usagi and Sakura unless they say otherwise. CBR doesn't have a good track record of keeping different canonicities seperate however.
So the introduction doesn't say anything particularly notable, it just basically gives a super general synopsis of both characters concepts. We start by going to the first point.
So the first point they give is Usagi has the advantage of immortality. They start by saying this ability "may come as a surprise to fans of Sailor Moon", though I'm not sure how it could. The Silver Crystal granting immortality is a major feature of the second arc. I guess they are thinking more about the anime where it's not made as clear.
The next point they give however is referencing the end of the first season of the anime...which isn't immortality. Sailor Moon was dying and she wished on the Silver Crystal to be able to return to her normal life, so the Silver Crystal basically undid the events of the first season, all of which is non-canonial. They then say "Usagi was reborn, but still had the fate and spirit of Princess Serenity." I'm not really sure how that's relevant although they may have accidentally stumbled on an actual advantage of Usagi's and/or heard this but know what it meant.
Yes, Usagi has a regen factor Sakura does not. Usagi was erased within the Galaxy Cauldron but the lambda power restored her. To kill her one must destroy the lamba power, the energy of the Cosmos Crystal.
Their next point is "Sakura: Syaoran's Aid." This is obviously outside help and probably doesn't need to be addressed. Beyond that not only is making this Sakura's first point kind of underming to her actual power, Syaoran probably can't help that much. He doesn't have much he can do that Sakura either can't do or can't do even better by end of CCS or TRC. But let's see what they say.
Alright they don't say anything more really. They just say Syaoran used to be Sakura's rival, and is now her boyfriend and he has "great fighting prowess." as well as say he can summon lightning use juju. Again, this is outside help, and not really likely to be much help regardless.
Their next point is "Usagi-Sailor Guardians" which again, is outside help. Also this one objectively won't make any difference, with the Lambda Power Usagi can already use their powers. You can't even say that numbers would help as Usagi can duplicate herself across time using the Silver Crystal's Acausality and Time Travel which we know because she already did, protecting her younger self as Sailor Cosmos.
In the section they say that "nothing can beat the Sailor Guardians when they work together" and that even though Syaoran would team up with Sakura "it would be a five-on-two fight, which speaks for itself."
I like all these characters sure but Usagi and Sakura are so much stronger then their friends that it's a non-element even if it wasn't outside help. Usagi literally one-shot all the other Senshi and Sakura surpassed Clow Reed who was the strongest sorcerer of all time by far including Syaoran.
Their next point is "Sakura-Acrobatic Ability" and basically they just say that Sakura had some experience with cheerleading and acrobatics. Yes this is technically an advantage Sakura has in a fight against Usagi but it's a really mild one in comparison. Given how Clamp fights tend to go thematically, yes small differences can be quite important but this is not one of Sakura's advantages by far when both characters can warp space and time around.
They then say as part of the same point that while Usagi "just barely dodged being killed by demons" which is I guess kind of accurate though misleading Sakura can "fly through the air." Usagi can also fly. Even in the anime Usagi flew in season 5 and she could at least levitate by season 2. It also says Sakura could "use the sealing wand in ways Usagi could not keep up with." I'm not really sure what it's trying to say here.
Their next point is "Usagi-Purifying Power." I'm not sure where they're gonna go with this one. Yes Usagi has very potent purification but Sakura is completely pure-hearted and noble, so I am not sure how they think it would help.
They start by saying a "stark" difference between them is that Usagi fights demons, which...is only kinda true, Usagi's enemies are more like aliens but you can stretch it for them to be demons. In contrast Sakura captures Clow Cards.
They make the statement that she fights "actual threats." Yes I do think Usagi having greater combat skill and experience is an advantage she has and underlying one of the bigger reasons I thought she would win, namely that her powers are overall a lot more geared towards combat though this section being phrased as purification powers doesn't seem to imply that, if anything it seems to imply the inverse. Also while not as often Sakura has taken on actual threats like Madoushi and The Nothing.
So their next point is "Sakura-Stamina" and what are they doing? No. Stamina is one of Usagi's biggest advantages here. Sakura created a third style of magic distinct from solar and lunar, the magic of stars drawing from her internal energy which is why she got tired, even completely exhausted changing clow cards to Sakura cards. Usagi's energy source is infinite and unending, this is important to the plot and themes of Sailor Moon.
So their argument is that "When Usagi first began being Sailor Moon, running around for short periods of time would leave her tired and out of breath, although she progressed with time." whereas Sakura "is a cheerleader and has built up her strength, as well as her stamina..." No. That's just not true. Usagi gets exhausted twice in the manga from fighting, once before she unlocks the Silver Crystal and once when Planet Nemesis was nullifying it's power. As Sailor Cosmos she will Sailor Chaos without end. She has access to the Silver Crystal which grants unending power. Sakura has a human physiology and exhausts herself by making these magical effects happen with her own stamina. Granted Sakura's stamina has gotten better to the point she was able to convert The Nothing to The Hope by herself, but stamina is one of the biggest advantages for Usagi.
Their next point is "Usagi-Transformations" which I'm not sure what they mean by that. I expect they're gonna say something about how Usagi has stronger forms or something.
Yep that's exactly what they say. Sakura doesn't transform at all, unusually for a magical girl, while Usagi has figher forms. It's not really applicable to EOS Usagi as her Sailor Crystal is the Cosmos Crystal and if she henshins into Sailor Cosmos, there's no known higher forms, not that a lower form of Usagi would be able to fight Sakura particullarly well regardless.
The next point is "Sakura-Magical Prowess." This one depends what they mean. Combat Skill, Knowedge about magic.
"Despite Usagi being the reincarnation of Princess Serenity is is stated she does not have much magical power-although Neo-Queen Serenity does." ...What? I'm kind of at a loss for words, I don't know where you could possibly be getting that from but Usagi is constantly stated and shown to have enormous magical power. She is bearer of the Legendary Silver Crystal that every villain in the series wants to attain. At best they might be thinking of how in the first arc Usagi was stated to only be half as good as one of the others, but that was more likely skill then power and that was the beginning of the series before Usagi unlocked the Silver Crystal.
The next statement is that Sakura was born with magical power and prowess, which is why the book of Clow chose her." Which is not true. Sakura was born with immense magical potential partially coming from being a descendant of Clow but she had no knowledge of magic. Syaoran comments on this fact, and I think Kero does as well at another point.
"Despite Usagi have the ability to use magical weapons, Sakura can innantely utilize it." I don't see where they are getting this from. Both Usagi and Sakura rely on magical weapons and both have used magic without it, Usagi drawing power from the Silver Crystal and Sakura drawing power from her stellar magic and her energy. If they're trying to say Usagi relies more on magical equipment....I could maybe see it, although it's kind of debatable.
"Usagi-Combat Experience" So yeah this is an advantage for Usagi, although I thought this was already touched on. Sakura both by nature and by her type of magic is not a fighter, and has only fought magical threats like her a few times whereas Usagi's character arc is her progressing into being a soldier of love and justice who has fought numerous times magical enemies on her level.
They don't say anything particularly off in the section outside of again using the non-canon anime for Usagi and also claiming Usagi fought in "hundreds" of battles in the first season, which...is objectively not true. Season 1 has 46 episodes. There's no way Usagi could have fought hundreds of battles.
The next point is.... "Sakura-Clow Cards." ............
So you're point for Sakura here is "all the things Sakura can actually do?" The Clow Cards, or rather the Sakura Cards and then the Clear Cards comprise almost all of Sakura's magical abilities. So the section starts by saying some of Sakura's cards although the examples they give are...well.... "from The Watery, The Fiery, and The Sword, Sakura can use different elements and even summon weapons." Those are probably not the cards I would have suggested to show what Sakura could do against Usagi. Even in the anime Usagi is throwing around enough force to destroy a planet as early as the first seasons. In neither the anime or manga, do The Watery and the Fiery show enough destructive force to compare.
"While Usagi has magical weapons as well, Sakura's Clow Cards-which she then turns into Clow Cards..." Typo? I think you meant to say Sakura Cards.
"would probably have the upper hand when it comes to battling her." Why? The author doesn't really say why the Cards are supposed to be stronger then Usagi's attacks.
"Winner-Usagi. Despite both Sakura and Usagi being some of the toughest magical girls in anime, Usagi will ultimately win the fight" I think Usagi most likely wins although it's a difficult one.
Anyway their argument after this that goes on for 1 sentence is after all this is that because of her combat experience and her....transformations...somehow........that she would blitz Sakura before she draws one of her cards. Usagi is probably faster then Sakura, but I don't think this would work. Not only is Sakura arguably acausal and can probably protect herself in the past, but Sakura has a magic sense and shield can come up to protect her automatically, plus she has a general magic resistance that would neg most of Usagi's attacks.
So yeah if you want a series of 5 points easy enough for the casuals to understand for both Usagi and Sakura
Usagi:
+Infinite Stamina (Silver Crystal has infinite energy)
+Immortality/Regen (Comes back so long as Lambda Power exists)
+More of a fighter (more experience/more combat-based powers)
+Lunar Body (Can survive in alien environments Sakura can't)
+Wiser (Usagi is able to understand other's emotions which Sakura isn't good at)
Sakura
+Higher Power (Multiversal vs Universal)
+Magic Resistance (immune to non-physical attacks of Usagi)
+Sakura Cards can act independently to protect Sakura
Far beyond the physical realm is the realm of High Heaven, a realm humans can only go to in their dreams, and which resides the gods controlling the forces of nature. Spoken of in fear in this land is the great dragon Susanoo, embodiment of nature's wrath who is destined at the end of the age to bring about the end of the human's world.
Physically Susanoo is obviously one of the god tiers of the Dream Saga-verse. Susanoo's most obvious feat is the feat that's hyped up all manga; it is his destiny at the end of the cycle to literally consume the sun. Such will cause the sun to disappear from both Heaven and Earth. Arguably his power should be far higher however as not only is literally consuming the sun a quite casual feat, he was able to threaten Yuuki after she merged with the Shinju, the divine tree that holds the Sun up, a feat likely higher then baseline stellar.
In terms of speed, Susanoo obviously scales to the Sun's motion as it is his destiny to consume the sun. The sun orbits the center of the galaxy at Mach 675 which is a speed the Heavenly Sun likely also moves, as things in the physical realm and in Heaven reflect each other and have the same inner capabilities. It's possible Susanoo is even faster as he flew from the surface of Takamagahara to its Sun. The timeframe for this feat is unknown as is the exact distance but this is very possibly a relativistic to faster then light speed contextually.
Susanoo is a being of the plane of Takamagahara, high heaven. This seems to contain two planes of being, the lower mental plane of dreams where most beings reside and the the spiritual realm (Tenjukyu) inhabited by Amaterasu and Susanoo naturally, though one can travel between them freely. This means Susanoo is most likely a spiritual plane being, though can incarnate a body on the physical and mental planes during the end times. Susanoo is also the embodiment of nature's rage, and so during each end time, when the world is angry at being bespoiled, he will reappear even if previously defeated.
Susanoo's primarily ability is to incite rage in the forces of nature, causing natural disasters up to and including the consumption of the sun. Tidal waves, earthquakes, sandstorms are the result of his presence. Even delicate lotus blossoms become fearsome killers in the presence of Susanoo. All forces of nature become homicidal towards humans in his presence.
Susanoo has other powers. He can affect elemental forces, even forces of the heavens, as though solid such as cutting through liquid like a solid and in true dragon nature can resist magic used against him like a paralyzing spell. He can also fuse his incarnations or transform them to resemble his true body, partially or wholly.
Susanoo is also an extremely skilled fighter, having fought the protectors of the world over the cycle of the world, to the point of one of his dream incarnations without his power or his memories defeated the giant 8-headed serpent monster Orochi.
In terms of weaknesses, while Susanoo can cause much damage to the physical and dream planes of being, to interact with it finely requires him to use his incarnation, a single identity on the physical and dream planes he only gets one of per cycle, which may rebel against his will. Also the compassion and divine purification of the goddess Amaterasu is able to send Susanoo back to dormancy, if he is unable to consume her.
Name: Susanoo, Takaomi
Origin: Dream Saga
Powers and Abilities: Spiritual Being, Dream and Physical Plane Incarnation, Conditional Immortality/Regen (will return so long as the rage of nature exists), Ecokinesis (presence incites nature into a furious rage), Anti-Logia, Low A tier skill (Is an immortal warrior with a lifespan stretching centuries, defeated Orochi without his powers or memories), Resistance to Magic (Takamagahara's mages could not stop Susanoo)
Weakness: Can be limited by his physical or dream plane incarnations, Purification
Destructive Capacity: Stellar+
Range: Stellar
Speed: At least massively hypersonic, possibly FTL
Durability: Stellar+
Stamina: Unknown
Standard Equipment: As Takaomi carried a blade
Intelligence: Highly skilled fighter, knowledgable about the dream plane
So how would he do in other verses?
In DC Comics, the threat of Susanoo is not neccesarily how strong he would be, but how strong he would become almost instantly. His raw power would only be like roughly lower range Lantern Tier, even though most Lanterns wouldn't be able to really effect him. His magic resistance might seem helpful but it's probably nowhere near the level needed to stop the power of most DC mages outside of fodder mages (although in fairness 7 fodder mages managed to seal Dream of the Endless...)
The bigger problem is that as a spiritual entity that manipultes the dream realm he would almost immediatly have access to reality warping via the nature of the dreaming unless Dream decides to stop him for some reason. Likewise his ability to make nature turn enraged is a lot scarier in a verse where nature is things like the Green and the Red and the Rot, multiversal concepts that govern large swatches of existence.
Basically Susanoo is either stopped really quickly or he causes huge massively cosmic problems without much in between.
In the Marvel universe, Susanoo has almost the opposite scenario where he's almost certain to last a while but there's a pretty hard cap on what he could actually do. Unlike DC where crazy powerful magicians are around every corner, Marvel's cosmology is usually more science-y which means they won't be able to just directly attack him but he also can't just control some of the strongest things in the multiverse.
While him causing several disasters would be pretty immediatly noticable and troublesome, his ability to trouble the dream realm is a problem as most Marvel psychics can control the dream realm pretty easily and are way more versatile there then Susanoo is. Most likely is that he eventually gets recruited as an ally of some magic-based cosmic villain.
In Saint Seiya, Susanoo would have power roughly comparable to someone first attaining the Seventh Sense who can destroy a star with their cosmo and travel at the speed of light. Susanoo would probably be able to defeat most characters like this due to his ecokinesis and skill and even possibly really low tiers of the gods like Hecate despite her speed due to being able to likely tank her attacks though against any gold saint or god he would be massively out of his depth, particularly as cosmo can be used to attack concepts as shown in Saintia Sho.
In the LittleBigPlanet-verse Susanoo would, similar to DC either get beaten really quickly or cause massive destruction. He can't directly affect most of the inhabitants of Craftworld as they are conceptual although he can cause destruction to the dreams of mankind that make them up so it's more like a character who can't hit your body normally but can attack every atom making it up. That said his level of power is only about as strong as Sackboy. Susanoo is likely similar to a lowballed speed for Negativitron and consequently Sackboy suggesting he would be about rivaling Sackboy overall.
This is particularly funny as Susanoo is a threat to basically everyone in the verse except Sackboy. His ecokinesis could cause the world of Craftworld to become hostile and dangerous sort of similar to Vex's manipulation but less comedic and obvious. With his divine skill it's likely Susanoo could beat most of the same enemies Sackboy could in probably very similar ways, just without the befriending element.
In a battle between Sackboy and Susanoo...Susanoo COULD manipulate him, but that's not really a standard tactic for Susanoo at all. More problematically for him, Sackboy would almost certainly befriend Takaomi and try to purify him with his dreamer orbs which would work virtually identical to Yuuki's defeat of Susanoo in Dream Saga, functionally Sackboy is actually a really good counter to Susanoo as a fight between them would almost be a repeat of the end of Dream Saga.
In the Clamp multiverse, fights in the dreamscape is something most high tier mages can do and so being able to combat Susanoo is possibly, although he would have a pretty considerable deal of power, having power on par with the Light and the Dark who can control the Sun and speed likely similar as well.
Susanoo would be an especially big problem in Cardcaptor Sakura, as his presence would cause the Clow Cards to turn violent and rage-filled as well as power that would take one of the Card Guardians to stop. In X/1999 Susanoo would actually fit extremely well leading the Dragons of Earth in the war against humans for bespoiling the environment against the Dragons of Heaven, especially as his physical incarnation would be limited to power likely on the dragons level.
While most high tier magicians like Yuuko or Fei Wong Reed could ward Susanoo away on the physical and dream planes, it would be difficult to get to his true nature though Yuuko does have at least some limited interaction of the spiritual realm. It would seem to take a Top Tier like Sakura or Clow Reed to warp the multiverse's conceptual rage of nature away to defeat him or one of the gods like Divine Mokona or Ashura-oh, however he does have one Achilles Hell within the lower tiers; the people of Cephiro.
Cephiro is a dimension where one's will controls all, with the world itself held together by the Pillar of Cephiro. The Pillar's disappearence caused nature to turn chaotic and violent like Susanoo's presence so it's likely the Pillar's presence could surpress the Ecokinesis of Susanoo. Those in Cephiro on the level of the Rune Gods have speed equivalent to the high end of Susanoo and the power of the wills of the people of Cephiro was strong enough to purify Debonair, the Dark Pillar formed of their collective darkness, suggesting it would be able to send Susanoo back into dormancy.
For a long time I've held a position that a while ago was very mildly contested but has never been that controversial. That opinion was that x contradicted y did not make x non-canon to y.
People used to make arguments for something canonicity's based on whether it contradicted anything in the original material however to me that seems an erroneous presumption because often enough works already have contradictions within them. If there's a plot hole within the first episode of a tv series we don't use that to say that season is non-canon.
Likewise canon has never outside of fiction context involved whether contradiction existed. Canon was a term used in religion to mean "works that are considered genuine" as opposed to fake. As such if we analogize this to a fictional story it would seem to me that would should be canon is just anything that is approved by the author.
That also seems to me to just be what should be default assumption. If the author says this is or this isn't what happens within my story, to me it doesn't make sense to limit that to just the original writing......
or at least it didn't. That was my philosophy for a while, that the only basis for canon should be authorial approval. That said it's hard to deny functionaly that does lead eventually to some complete contradictions which while not philisophically troublesome to me, does prove functionally troublesome. It's easy to say "it doesn't matter if character x beat character y or character y beat character x in this adaptation because the author say adaptation is canon" but that doesn't help figure out whose stronger.
So I have what I believe to be perhaps a helpful way of looking at canon, and I believe is what I will use from now on.
Primary Canon: Anything within the original work or created by the current owner of the property
Secondary Canon: Anything approved by the current owner of the property. Adaptations which have been given the clear by the author, word of god statements outside the text, consequently databooks etc. All of these are Secondary Canon meaning things in them can be used if they don't contradict Primary Canon.
Non-Canon: Things not approved by the owner of the property. Can't be used.
One of the things I'm currently wondering and people reading can maybe give their opinions on; is the original work referencing something as happening in their world enough to show that the author approves of that thing? If there's a series 0 with an adaptation and 0 references an event in 1 or a character from 1 appears in 0, does that make 1 canon to 0? I'd feel like it would be because that's how fans say two series are in the same universe when one mentions another within, but also that seems like how the author would approve of a series being at least secondary canon without explicitly saying so.
What this means for my upcoming death analysis for instance and spoilers if you haven't seen the trailer for next one, is the original manga is primary canon, the website run by the author that gives extra information on the characters and world is secondary canon, the anime is probably non-canon though I will look to see if there's anything bringing it to secondary canon.

Superheroes and Supervillains. The Gods and Demigods of the Modern Age. What do you imagine when you think of them? Stoic, valiant warriors of justice? Repulsive, cruel shadows of society's underbelly? Or perhaps...some seductive sadistic dominatrix.
Sister Jill, demon field leader of Panther Claw.
Midnight, the R-Rated Hero.
I'm Imperator100 and this is a Death Prediction.
Sister Jill:
Outside our universe in another dimension there exists a race of demonic beings resembling large cats. The god of this dimension is the monstrous witch Zora. Zora, wishing to spread her chaos and darkness into the other dimensions sent some of her panthers into the main dimension, giving them humanoid forms. This was the birth of Panther Claw, a supernatural crime organization spreading mayhem and death, stalking like a panther in the night, from the wilds of the Amazon to the streets of Tokyo. And like any crime organization, Panther Claw needed a leader.
Sent across dimensions by Zora was her second in command, a new darkness in the form of a cat, the cruel Sister Jill. Sister Jill was a loyal follower of Zora's mission to spread fear and anarchy in the human realm, satisfying her personal vanity and cruelty along the way. The only one to be able to oppose them was the warrior of love, the android superheroine Cutie Honey.
Jill's demon physiology also gives her physical capacities far beyond a normal human. Even a normal human in the cutie honey universe can punch through a tree and even the first enemy of Panther Claw had a claw that could "tear through anything." If one takes the average preferred hand volume of 379.7 cubic centimeters and the energy to fragment titanium of 550 joules per cubic centimeters then this is a feat that would require over 200 kilojoules and scales to probably every named member of Panther Claw and pre-timeskip Cutie Honey. Sister Jill obviously scales above, as all of their power comes from her. Sister Jill's fangs and claws are strong enough to seriouslyinjure Cutie Honey and even after the 30 year timeskip where Honey grew stronger, were able to cause Cutie Honey pain meaning she may scale to post-timeskip Angel Honey reducing a member of Panther Claw to ash with an attack, a feat that would take over 243 megajoules. Durability wise Jill is at least durable enough to withstand numerous strikes from Pre-Time Skip Honey and can tank small arms fire.
Possibly due to her demon physiology and possibly due to magic, Jill can breathe fire. This would almost certainly scale to lesser Panther Claw's fire such as Fire Claw stating she can create fire that would reduce Honey to ash and Dragon Panther, Jill's original second in command reducing a human to ash. This would be at least be the above value of over 243 megajoules, although could be even higher if you consider they thought they could reduce even an android like Honey to ash.
Jill uses a whip as a weapon, proficiently enough that it can be used against Honey as a weapon. Also Panther Claw in the original manga were called "cyborgs" suggesting at least part of their humanoid bodies are made of metal.
In nature, panthers are ambush predators that tend to attack an unsuspecting enemy before it can run away and kill it quickly. As such they focus on having speed, stealth, and overwhelming offensive power rather than much in the way of defense and Panther Claw are quite similar. It's surprisingly consistent that Panther Claw members cannot take their own attacks. The aforementioned Fire Claw and Dragon Panther were both killed by having their own fire used on them. Bullets are consistently treated as threats to Panther Claw and while Jill has the relatively impressive feat of being able to tank small arms fire, machine gun fire still tears through her. Even when in the Panther Dimension where Jill's strength is at least doubled, Honey can pretty easily penetrate through her entire body. Likewise, while her regen may seem extremely strong being able to regenerate from being horizontally bisected; to do so would take a week according to Jill making it pretty unusable in combat. It's also consistent that damage to the brain will kill Jill completely requiring Zora to resurrect her. This is how she died at the end of both the original manga and the sequel manga; Honey put a sword through her brain and Honey pierced her brain with her knight armor. Basically, Jill's meant for offense, speed, and stealth and isn't made for taking attacks from people on her level.
Beyond that Jill psychologically is quite unstable and is prone to fits of narcissism and vanity. She is easily distracted by pretty things, possibly because the panther dimension is filled with ugliness. One time her arch-enemy Honey's henshin device malfunctioned leaving her naked. Honey attempted to fix it for several pages while Jill watched. Instead of attacking Honey, Jill spent the entire time transfixed by how beautiful Honey was.
Personality:
Sister Jill is stated to be the beauty and savagery of the panther itself. She is a living paradox of both monstrousness and elegance, a violent often savage sociopath and a refined criminal mastermind. Much like the wild panther is a thing of beauty and danger, Jill is that which transfixes our mind even as we tremble from its threat.
Jill is characterized as greedy and lustful; a creature whose claws stretch out across nations to take anything pretty it wants and hoard it for herself. There is no why, there is no use she would get from it, she just wants to have it to possess it to fulfill her desire for control. Anything that stands in that way of that goal invites her cruel vengeance and the sudden pounce and shining final flash of the panther's fangs.
While her fight against social norms may not have been that successful, she became a very successful crime fighter, even become one of the teachers at the prestigious hero school U.A. where she sought to help teach the next generation of heroes.
(Fun Note, when the MHA manga is showing silhouettes of the heroes that appeared during the age of heroes, one of them is Devilman, a Go Nagai series which has crossed over with Cutie Honey meaning that in MHA terms, Cutie Honey is canon and this fight could potentially have happened)
Midnight was also hit by debris moving very quickly launched by the villain Mr. Compress and while highly damaged was still able to move. The stone part of the debris is roughly an elliptical prism the height of a door which likely the standard door height of 2 meters. While the full dimensions are a bit hard to tell, being hit by a mass of stone this size at any reasonable speed would equate to a high kilojoules feat, and assuming it is moving at anything comparable to Midnight's speed, it would be in the low gigajoules, similar to the above feat. Mr. Compress is notably also listed as being at 2 in power similar to Midnight, suggesting that since his attack was able to significantly damage Midnight, that her attack potency is likely in a similar range.
Like most of the populace of the MHA universe, Midnight has a unique ability called a "quirk." Midnight's is called "Somnambulist" where she emits a scent that puts people to sleep. It works better on guys. The more of Midnight's skin is exposed, the more potent this ability is.
Somnambulist is actually more versatile than it seems, as it is actually more like controlling the actions and physical states of people and is able to pacify people, persuade them or put them to sleep, presumably by afflicting them with various levels of drowsiness.
Midnight is an intelligent and experienced hero who teaches art history at the hero school U.A. and helps the heroes in training design their costumes. Probably her most important intelligence feat is she was the one to come up with the plan to stop Gigantomachia. Ultra Analysis gives her the max score for technique, showing her skill is considered at least in the top tier in the verse, including heroes that have trained for numerous generations such as Gran Torino, who is listed as having the same level of technique as Midnight in both the Ultra Archive and Ultra Analysis. Gran Torino for comparison was able to agile-y defeat Twice, Magnum, and Spinner with skill and had trained multiple generations of heroes. Despite her relative lack of power, Midnight is stated to be one of the greatest heroes of Japan and when the heroes in training had to defeat one of the pro heroes to pass a tess, Midnight was listed as one of the four highest hurdles. All of this suggests Midnight is likely a highly skilled fighter coming from her massive experience.
Midnight uses her intelligence and her beauty in combination to create her legendary charisma. She is known for her ability to gain the trust of others and end conflict before they begin and back in the earlier days of superheroing when some vigilante action was illegal, Midnight would smooth over things with the authorities. In the Ultra Analysis she is given the max score, 6/6 or S Rank in "Sexiness."
Weaknesses:
Midnight as mentioned a few times lacks a lot of raw power for a hero of her caliber relying more on technique then force. Her quirk is less effective on girls and can be avoided by not breathing in, although this obviously comes with its own set of problems as generally most people require breathing to survive.
Midnight's favorite things are stated to be "vibrant youth" and "thrills." She's an enthusiastic and expressive woman who seeks to follow her teacher's legacy and encourage others to express themselves to the fullest and to be fashionable but functional. While she is a bit of a sadist and take her sexual obsession a bit too far, she is also encouraging and courageous in the face of adversity.
While it's not commented on nearly as much Midnight has a protective loving side as well, shown when she forgives people for youthful indiscretions, encouraging Kaminari when his nerves get the best of him and (Major BNHA Spoilers ahead) her last action before her death reaffirming to Momo that she believes in her. If some of the major themes in My Hero Academia are the burdens of societal expectations, the will to be a light of hope and inspiration for others, and the difficulty of balancing one's personal identity with the identity one shows to society, Midnight is an icon showing how a hero is someone who expresses herself to the fullest and in doing so lights the path for others to come into their own.
Alright, the combatants are set. It's time for a death prediction!
Night in Musutafu. The pools of inky blackness in this modern metropolis like the hide of a sleek animal carried with it promises of potential brimming with adventure and threat. The moon hung close to the horizon, it's gentle beams sliding diagonally over the strange goings on within the city tonight, illuminating and distorting events.
Under those stray streaks of light, Sister Jill prowled after her recent resurrection. The panther slid silently in the shadows her burning eyes piercing night's veil. As she stalked quietly into the park, she gave a silent rejoice seeing a cute little couple sitting together on a park bench. The girl's neck flesh was exposed and looked silky and beautiful. Jill praised Zora in her mind for this.
The girl saw her first and gave off a stereotypical scream and the two quickly ran away in fear in the direction Jill had prompted them by angle of attack, into a secluded alley where she could confirm the kill. As Jill shifted her from into a more humanoid form and allowed her claws to protrude from her humanoid hands, her fingers creased slightly imagining piercing into the little morsels.
Unbeknownst to her however, the events were under watch. Midnight had been on patrol when she had seen a panther prowling the streets. This was a cat species unlike any she had ever seen, and she tailed the creature waiting. Seeing the creature change forms Midnight thought to herself how bizarre a quirk this villainess had.
Jill had cornered the two between two old warehouses, watching the girl cower in fear and the boy look for something, anything to defend them. Jill teased the two of them a little, bare-ing her fangs and approaching slowly but her heart beating in anticipation pounced on the two of them...
only to hit nothing in the air. Crashing through the window an elegant shadow had darted in, grabbed the two of them and moved them out of the way. Jill looked around in surprise only to find the figure, still crouched in silhouette had maneuvered her targets around her.
Midnight held the civilians tight as she performed a 270 degree swing with her whip expertly, bringing the two civilians to behind the villainess. She told them to run and find cover, blowing an extra kiss to the cute boy as she did so before turning back to her enemy who loomed at her menancingly.
"So..." Midnight said, her tone confident and breathy "You've been a bad pussy cat? I guess that means I'll have to punish you."
Jill felt her mouth water at the beautiful figure before her and lightly ran her tongue over her lips. "What a beautiful form, I was hoping to get the girl but you'll do much better."
Fight!
Fast as the fall of night, Midnight brought out her whip and cracked it at her enemy with a crack splitting the tense air.
The attack came swift, but Jill seeing it incoming quickly dodged to the left and decided to retaliate in turn, bringing out her own whip and attempted to grab the heroine's mid-section. Better trained in the subtle motions of the whip, Midnight easily sidestepped the first whip crack, and leapt above the second.
Jill's eyes widened in recognition that her bait had been taken and switching to panther form she pounced on the heroine's beautiful form. Midnight winced slightly in pain from the panther's claws and almost out of instinct went into a combat roll in midair, kicking the panther's side with her heeled boots. A powerful wave of force and pain split into Jill's side as she was kicked into the city streets. She felt her cells rushing to heal her bruised side. Meanwhile Midnight landed with a thud on the stone streets.
The panther Jill rushed sideways down the streets into the obscuring shadows unilluminated by the streetlights. Midnight quickly pursued but lost her in the confusion. She stopped near the bright booming lights of the city's party district, the exertion exhausting her. A cat crept out of the shadows slowly, looking at her.
Midnight gave a sigh and playfully asked the cat "Neko-chan, do you know where the big bad panther lady went?" reaching down to pet her only for the cat to ball up and shifting to humanoid form again attempted to bite Midnight's neck but experienced with surprise attacks Midnight brought her fist sideways hitting off-center Jill's chest flinging her backwards into a nearby tree.
The r-rated hero blinked in shock while Jill got up again, her body heavily pained by the assaults and her eyes blazing with fury.
The leader of the Panther Claw growled lowly, this human was showing strength far above what she had expected and her body cried out in pain. However, she was a master of strategy and witchcraft and giving a malicious grin slipped behind a barrier of invisibility.
Midnight gave a surprised yelp as Jill suddenly seemed to disappear into thin air and looked around in confusion. Changing forms AND turning invisible? Could these both somehow be her quirk... did she have backup from someone else?
Suddenly from behind the loud CRACK of a whip as a whip slammed into Midnight who was thrown into a metal fence, bending it. She got up quickly but again saw nothing for a second whip strike to hit her in the side, causing her side to burn in pain. The panther claw leader grinned sadistically, this "hero" had pained her dearly and know she would know even greater pain.
Strike after strike came, with Midnight barely able to dodge some, and some hitting her squarely. Midnight's mind drifted back and remembered watching Toru train. To exploit her invisibility, she had always gotten closer than otherwise feasible to do greater damage, relying on invisibility for defense. Deciding to take a chance, Midnight tore a hole in her costume and allowed her quirk to come alive.
Right behind her, Jill stopped for a moment seeing the r-rated heroine tear her clothes. What a beauty she was....it was a shame she'd have to die for her insolence as Jill would enjoy greatly enslaving this beautiful body and will to Jill's desires...however lost in thought she hadn't noticed a gentle scent invading her nose, lulling her into a daze. Without thinking Jill's grip loosened and her whip dropped.
Hearing the sound behind her, Midnight pirouetted and threw her entire form forward, slamming into Jill's body, throwing the two of them into the nearest building. Loud music and blaring lights assaulted the senses in the casino everyone stopped to watch what was going on.
Midnight, holding the villainess down with her great strength raised her head and said "Please find cover, I'm battling an invisible super-villainess." Jill taking advantage of Midnight's momentary distraction shifted herself into a cat and escaped into the chaotic rushing of people. Midnight looked around desperately but couldn't find her enemy in the chaos. Midnight quickly climbed and leapt up to the overlooking balcony and called out "here kitty kitty" making a come-hither gesture and with an expression to match "let's finish this"
Jill in cat form saw the display and laughed to herself. "Does this fool think she can catch ME in a trap?" Jill had quickly learned that she should avoid getting so close, though this left her options limited. The leader of the panther claw manifested several illusory panthers which quickly approached Midnight's position.
Upon seeing them, Midnight flipped her hair in a dismissive gesture and said, "There there kittens, there's more than enough of me for all of you." The illusions tried to pounce and keep Midnight off-guard but though she didn't know that none of them were the real Jill, Midnight used her whip with the skill of a lion-tamer on the entire area.
Under a barrier of invisibility, the real Jill had made her way to the underneath the balcony and clawed at the support beam. Midnight stuck out her hands to balance herself but soon found the entire balcony gave way causing her to painfully fall through a glass counter that was underneath, the impact force and several small glass shards painfully ripping at her skin.
Jill saw this as her chance and fangs bared leapt at that.... beautiful.....milky.......neck of Midnight's. The heroine saw the panther leap out from invisibility and performed an expert reversal, spinning to one side and making a sweeping arc brought her heeled boot onto Jill's head, pushing her face into the ground.
As Midnight pressed her heel into the panther's face she gave a hearty laugh. She could just kill whatever this monster was but now she had the opportunity for a little payback, painfully pressing her heel into Jill's face till blood appeared and pressing her other foot into Jill's midsection.
"Oh, what's that?" Midnight said, flushed with power. "I couldn't hear that. Can't quite get it out? Stuck on that edge? Midnight-sensei will certainly help you." before lifting the boot slightly off Jill's head, keeping her other firmly placed on Jill's midsection holding her down.
Jill had been considering escaping via separating her body, though aware that would severely weaken her, but after having her mouth freed, she got an another option and instead of reply breathed a torrent of flame which flowed from her mouth like a tsunami. Midnight reflexively brought her arms up to protect her face, but the force of the fire knocked Midnight away, the fire quickly catching in the casino.
Midnight rose, her face burning and smoke filling her lungs to see a hellish site. The building was quickly catching fire and scared civilians were running to and from, some already having fire leap onto their clothes. She quickly rushed into action trying her best to save civilians. She physically brought civilians to safely and fans the flamed away from people as best she could.
However, while she was in the process of that she heard a panther growl and felt herself pushed from behind by Jill's pounce, throwing the two into the center of the burning Casino like a gladiatorial arena. The smokey form of the panther prowled at the apex, as though its smokey form billowed up from the flames of Hell. From the smoke came more panthers, illusions.
Midnight's breath was caught, partly from worry and partly from the smoke. She quickly pressed her might into her fans to try and push the panthers away and seeing only one of them press their claws into the ground knew the others were fakes.
Feeling the wind begin to push her back into the fire, Jill threw her entire might into a single pounce, pushing Midnight to the ground and clawing at her form desperately, scratching her midsection as she shifted to her human form. Jill could feel herself growing hazy from sleep but the burning smokey air made it harder to smell. In horror, Midnight watched some strange bug-like tongue protrude from Jill's mouth. The heroine brought her right arm fan upwards with all her might and watched in amazement and disgust as it tore clean through Jill's arm, blood spurting from Jill's side and making her yell and scream in pain.
Jill used her left arm to push herself away and stumbled into the smoke. Midnight tried to follow but as she did Jill's disembodied arm attacked as an animate claw, scratching at Midnight's back, distracting the heroine temporarily.
Jill's breath caught in her throat. "Zora..." she thought to herself "Bestow upon me your devil witchcraft and the malfortune of my enemy...she is strong.... but there is one way where she is weak."
Midnight had finally pacified the raging claw when from the smoke she saw Jill in human form return, however her left arm was enclosed around the neck of an unconscious old man.
"Don't move." Jill said angrily, all hints of prior playfulness gone. "Geezer's alive...for now. One wrong step though and his throat is crushed."
The flames licked at Midnight's side, inviting her into the Inferno. Midnight had been in hostage situations before but this one was unlike any before. Midnight raised her hands in surrender "Don't do it."
Jill's eyes gleamed with sadistic happiness. "Why shouldn't I?" and her fangs grew closer to his neck.
Midnight looked at the poor old man and said "You wanted me to serve you? Let him live and I promise I will do what you say."
Jill's eyes gleamed dangerously. A trap? But...this girl was a "hero" like Honey....and even ravaged by battle her form was seductive indeed.
Jill threw the old man to the ground roughly. "Fine then." But as she pounced again, her bug tongue extended, Midnight grabbed Jill with her whip. Jill looked to the whip in surprise "But..."
Midnight shook her head "You're really ill-informed, coercion doesn't equal consent." Jill quickly tried to separate her upper body and lower section but Midnight ducked the strike of the upper section, kicking the lower section into the fire. Jill's upper end half morphed into a strange bat-like creature, it's edges sharp and jagged and scratched at Midnight's upper form but Midnight's form disappeared again in the dark. Through the mysterious dark and the burning smoke and the shine of Midnight's belt and the silky sexiness of her skin and the haze....that damned drowzy haze...Jill hovered uncertain in the air. Using a quick whip strike, Midnight struck the bat-like form of Jill into the fire. As Jill's brain blazed within the inferno she had unleashed, her demon essence disappeared once again into the mysterious dimension from whence it came.
The r-rated heroine quickly took the prone man on the ground outside as the passion-red rays of the sun broke through the dark night sky over the horizon. She quickly called in support for the raging fire and medical attention for the civilians nearby.
K.O.
In this fight Jill definitely has more advantages overall that said one of Midnight's few advantages is so overwhelming that it almost wins this fight for her by itself that being the sheer difference in raw power between the two.
Jill's best attack potency scaling is being some unknown amount above the energy to turn a person to ash, which is 243 megajoules while Midnight likely scales to Uraraka who was able to take numerous attacks from a Bakugo stronger than the one who created an explosion larger then buildings calced at 2.6 gigajoules, a difference of about 10.7 times. For comparison, the difference between the average human punch and the peak human punch is about 10 times. Jill punching Midnight full force would be like an average human punching a UFC heavyweight world champion full force. Yeah, it might sting a little but it's not gonna do any real damage. For another comparison using actual cats, lions bites produce energy on the low end of 30 kilojoules while an elephant's charge is on the low end 120 kilojoules, 4x stronger...and there's a reason lions only hunt elephants when it's a pack of lions hunting a juvenile or sick elephant.
But Jill would still be able to sort of physically compete, if not for her glass cannon nature. Jill's best durability feat is taking numerous strikes from pre-time skip Honey who scales to Black Claw's 200 kilojoules feat, a level of power 13,000 times weaker than Bakugo's restrained chapter 1 explosion. If Midnight had even 1% of this striking power, she would be hitting Jill with as much force as a grenade would on a normal human. Jill has regen but it's got no feats, let alone ones that would suggest it could keep up with that. She can survive being cut in half, but it clearly is tactical disadvantageous for that to happen. Even the victory bots that were a test to get into U.A. called "quick but fragile" can smash through a wall calced at 20 megajoules given their size, which would be 100 times that of Black Claw's feat.
It might sound strange given Jill is one of the strongest in her verse while Midnight is relatively speaking lacking in raw power within her verse. However, the difference in power is pretty clear cut between the two verses. Bullets are consistently treated like a credible threat to almost everyone in Cutey Honey including to Pre-Timeskip Honey, which is the only version of Honey Jill has ever physically beaten. Jill's ability to tank small arm fire is treated as impressive and she still dies to large arms fire. Conversely characters in MHA regularly fire out elemental or physical attacks much stronger than gunfire in both potency and area of effect more closely resembling the energy of large amounts of tnt. Midnight might be kind of lacking in power relative to her verse but it was considered an oddity and an impressive achievement that Shoto was beyond most Pro Heroes during the Sports Festival so it's likely most Pro Heroes scale to at least the mid tiers of the Sports Festival Arc, something you'd expect in terms of lore regardless.
If the two were more similar in power or if Jill had any notable way to win besides that, Jill would probably win as she has more advantages overall, but this level of raw power is such a big advantage it kind of dwarfs Jill's advantages. It would actually be relatively hard for Midnight to kill Jill outside a headshot. Not only does Jill have her regen/endurance/shapeshifting combination that comes from demon physiology, but she has invisibility, the ability to create illusions and is easily the smarter of the two and could manipulate Midnight particularly by exploiting her impulsiveness or her heroic nature like Jill does to Honey.
But the problem comes with the fact that Midnight is gonna get her eventually and Jill has no practical way to win. Could Jill just hang invisibly and try to wear her down that way? Hypothetically yes, but the problem is Jill's invisibility comes with creating a barrier around her meaning if she tried to whip Midnight, the whip would leave the barrier and give away her position. Jill could try to use her infection ability or attack one of Midnight's more sensitive areas like her eyes, groin, neck, etc. with her fangs but the problem is both of options require her to get into melee range which is the exact range that Somnambulist works for women meaning, especially if Midnight's clothing has been torn by whip strikes, Jill would try to and quickly fall asleep in the attempt. This is especially so because Jill has no prior knowledge of Midnight and wouldn't know to avoid melee at first or even if she doesn't fall asleep the first time, wouldn't know what's going on and how to avoid it. It's possible it could work even more effectively on Jill as cats have a greater sense of smell then humans do although this is speculation. Midnight's feat of using it on a bee parasite does show at the very least it would work on Jill regardless of different physiology. Midnight could also hypothetically use her fans to direct her quirk at Jill from a distance or to fan away a fire attack sent by Jill.
Plus both use a whip as a weapon. Whips have never been battlefield weapons as they are very bad at being force multipliers since the force of one's strength is being distributed across the length of the whip. However only one of these combatants needs a force multiplier with Midnight's strikes still having significant force along the whip for Jill with the inverse not being true. The closest weapon in history to the whip used on the battlefield was the Indian Urumi, basically being a very long piece of steel made very flexible so it bended like a whip. The Urumi was never used as a primary weapon, only ever fastened to one's belt and brought out in a skirmish when surrounded by numerous enemies to keep them back as the whip while lacking in destructive power what it does have is unpredictability and reach, which gives Midnight an edge against Jill's illusions as she would be able to use the whip as area denial. And given the strength difference Midnight's whip strikes would be if not fatal then be heavily damaging to Jill while the inverse is more likely to sting then do any serious damage.
Midnight seems to be faster than Jill as Jill's feats are mostly baseline supersonic. Deku in base performed a Mach 1.44 feat which is most likely similar to Honey's feat of blocking a bullet with a body, however Jill is only shown to be relative to Honey rather than equal and Midnight is faster than base Deku. Midnight is also a lot more skilled than Jill, to about the same degree that Jill is smarter then Midnight. This means that whenever Jill tries to do Midnight is more likely able to counter and quickly hit Jill then the inverse, and given the power difference Jill really can't afford to be hit by Midnight.
This is a fight that would likely go on for a bit, as both characters are sadists that enjoy causing pain, and both can be distracted from fighting. However that leads into Midnight's last advantage and arguably the biggest outside the power difference. Jill can be distracted at any point in the fight by Midnight's sexuality or possibly the pretty jewelry on Midnight has on her belt as part of her costume, aided by any mind-altering happening from Midnight's quirk. The inverse would also be true at the start of the fight, Midnight could be distracted by her impulsivity and sadism. However, this only apples when Midnight thinks she's fighting for fun. When civilians are endangered Midnight takes the fight seriously and tries to do whatever she can to stop the fight as quickly as possible to preserve lives as seen in the fight against Gigantomachia. There would likely be a turning point where Midnight realizes Jill's cruelty and the immediate threat to any civilians nearby and switch to trying to end the fight as quickly and efficiently as possible.
This isn't even considering the possibility of Midnight scaling to 5% Deku's feat that would put Midnight at 82x stronger than Jill's attack potency or the contested MHS Kaminari scaling both of which but especially the latter would make this an absolute stomp for Midnight.
Jill is more versatile and could be very difficult for Midnight to actually land a decisive blow on, but Midnight's raw power, hero training, and determination to protect others would allow her to outlast and eventually defang the deadly panther.
The winner is...Midnight
Next Time:
Thank you to my friend Thor for making this really cool next time trailer and for providing the soundtrack for this fight.
