Axis Powers Hetalia-Verse Strategy Guide

How to be OP in Axis Powers Hetalia

Axis Powers Hetalia is a universe where each of the countries manifests as a person whose interactions run parallel to the real world political events going on the world. Physically speaking, the Countries don't seem very strong, only about building level at most generally.

However the Countries are actually immortal so long as their countries exist. They also have the ability to kill each other, hitting on the conceptual level causing effects on the country scale. This is itself parallel to countries in real life "destroying" each other.

The Countries also have subsonic speed and relativistic reaction and attack speed (as they can all dodge attacks of light).

Thus the verse has hundreds (there are nearly 200 countries, and micronations also qualify giving a much larger amount) of conceptual entities that can hit concepts and have relativistic reactions/attack speed.

In addition the countries will demonstrate traits or abilities related to the characteristics of the country. England for instead can demonstrate powerful black magic such as age-changing, curses, spiritual summoning and so on and Russia can deflect magic, change the weather, and imbue fear on those nearby.

All the countries possess a vast amount of experience, including in combat, due to their massive lifespan.

However the verse also has a number of weaknesses. Firstly the countries health and condition are tied to the state of their nations, and they will die if their nation if destroyed. The author has noted that for instance harsh weather can make the country sick and weakened, as can economic recession. This means that a very strong weather manipulator or someone who can manipulate a countries people very well would likely do strong.

Another thing is while the countries have very fast reaction/attack speed, their actual movement speed is fairly low, meaning highly mobile builds, especially things like teleportation would likely do very well. This would also be very helpful getting past the neutral countries country-wide forcefield.

Also...related to a point above, the countries are rather goofy as befitting a comedy series and also not prone to focusing or working together. Even when the Pictonians nearly destroyed their planet, they were having difficulty coordinating with each other and each tried to fight them individually at first. This also means generally unpredictable characters would also likely have a bit of an advantage, as they have on several occasions been dazed by a sudden unexpected moment.

So things that would be strong: Powerful Weather Manipulation, highly mobile builds especially things like teleportation, powerful manipulators. Having non-magical abilities would also likely be helpful against Russia who can deflect magic.

So who do well here?

Lex Luthor would do amazingly well in the Hetalia verse. Not only would he find it child's play to manipulate the countries against each other, but he would likely be able to destroy the countries from the inside with a giant plan.

He also has non-magic based hypnosis which would likely work against the countries.

Due to his training with amazon bodyguards Lex is relatively physically equal to the countries as well and while he can't kill them immediately due to them being conceptual entities, Lex does have a teleporter as standard equip to get him out of trouble.

He was also with a bit of prep time create a gun that could rip apart existence itself which could potentially work on the countries, let alone how he could easily solo the verse if he built a power suit, though that is going against the rules.

Still Lex is a bit of dangerous choice due to his general fragility. Even better would be

Yomi from Yu Yu Hakusho.

Really anyone from YYH above Sensui would be a super threat to the verse due to being able to cause planetary earthquakes threatening all the countries, as well as physical states comically above the countries. However Yomi is not only one of the top of them but has additional advantages.

He's an extremely long-lived supergenius manipulator and so could manipulate the countries well, but beyond that he also has lamarckian evolution, a non-magical ability that allows him to evolve to new threats, hence why he grew extra ears after he was blinded. This would be very helpful since his enemies would have a very large potential arsenal since their powers are based on the traits of their countries.

Yomi would be extremely good and would probably solo the verse even if his powerset is very simple. However he could still get gibbed if one of the countries get close to him and hits him conceptually. Perhaps a stealth option would work best...

Weather Report from Jojo would be absolutely insane in the Axis Powers Hetalia verse.

First off he looks like a normal human so they have no way to suspect he's the source of the invisible intangible stand messing up the earth's weather, only England possibly being able to see his stand.

Weather Report's ability to convert entities into snails by convincing them they are is actually a very probable ability to work against the countries since it involves manipulating them, and if a large portion of the population was turned into snails the countries might be affected similarly.

Also and this is the big part, Weather Report can just tear a hole in the ozone, causing atmosphering radition to eradice life on earth rapidly. This would destroy all the countries in seconds and unlike with Yomi they would have no idea what's going on, nor even any good way of countries this. Weather Report would just be unfair against the countries.

The only real problem with this strategy is in the potential starting conditions. If the countries start out at close range to Weather Report, and know who he is....well his stand could probably still get him out of the way though it would be a lot more dangerous. Instead, I'd like to propose another character who I think would do really well regardless of starting conditions

Peacock from Skullgirls would probably do really unexpectedly well against the countries despite technically having less dc/durability.

First off all, she would easily be able to tell the countries apart from normal people due to their conversations which make it evident who they are with each other combined with her massive long range hearing and vision.

Secondly, Peacock has the ability to affect the absolute plane on a local scale. Why this is so important is because this means she could essentially avoid any conceptual attack by the countries by briefly painting herself out of and into existence. Given her movement speed advantage and the sheer degree of her enhanced senses she would easily know when an attack is coming.

Thirdly Peacock has teleportation and unpredictability. The countries doesn't coordinate well, especially when a threat is outside their usual spectrum, and Peacock would be constantly unpredictable, meaning they would never be able to get any kind of pin on her.

Fourthly, and this is related to secondly, given Peacock's ability to affect the metafictional plane on a local scale it's very possible she could actually affect the countries directly, completely ignoring their primary defense. With no knowledge of this, they would be sitting ducks against her, especially given her mobility and teleportation. Even if that doesn't work, her Theonite Cannon would actually be enough to at least incapacitate a countries temporarily as can be shown by how Britain's magic worked on the other countries, if not actually force them to incarnate again (and they do start as babies who must grow up first, giving her plenty of time)

Fifthly, and this is related to the third point, Peacock can not only teleport herself, but her enemies, meaning she could just portal the countries away and they would have no easy way to get back.

Sixthly, Peacock has knowledge of all the countries and their traits already. Not only can she sing every country's name, but she has seen cartoons from real world countries, despite her verse having different ones, meaning she would have knowledge of what the Hetalia Countries are likely to be like.

Finally, this one is speculative. If Lonesome Lenny can explode at the range a normal nucleur weapon does rather then his normal contained several meters, then it would cause a great amount of devastation that would severely harm the country she's in, and this a casually reproducible event. Overall she would simply have a lot of counters to everything in the verse.

However there's one character I think would do even better, a character who has a strategy that combines all the strategies mentioned above into one.

Aesir Loki from Norse Mythology.

Loki is strong, able to cause earthquakes across the globe with his strength, putting him at physical max here, but also an immediate threat to all the Hetalia countries.

Loki can also interact with conceptual entities, as he and Thor did in their contests with the abstract concepts (Thor for instance wrestled an old woman who turned out to be old age itself) meaning Loki could likely just punch the countries dead.

Loki can not just teleport, he can traverse different worlds, as shown when his falcon form was able to hide from Odin's gaze across the 9 realms. The Hetalia countries would have no ability to follow him whereas he can just appear wherever he wants unopposed.

Loki is also an unpredictable trickster, known for his manipulative genius. Given his ability to cause chaos, he would surely be able to trick the countries into fighting or even trick the dissolution of countries. He would also be insanely hard to predict.

Loki can also turn invisible or disguise himself as anyone, which would give him additional ability to manipulate the countries. Beyond that he would simply never be able to be detected if he didn't want by the countries.

While it's true Loki's magic probably wouldn't work on Russia, Loki's manipulation would probably work as well as his raw strength.

Loki is simply the perfect counter to the verse, having the exactly needed power, mobility, trickery, stealth, and higher plane manipulation.

And that's how to be OP in Axis Powers Hetalia.

  1. Hetalia isn't a verse I am that familiar with, but this was still a fun blog. You had great variety in character choices from choosing stuff from comics, Shonen, and even mythology. My personal favorite counter was Weather Report; his varied assortment of powers sounds like it would be absolute chaos for the verse.
