300th Blog: Ranking every Nakayoshi Protagonist

Beginning in 1954, Nakayoshi is a monthly Shojo magazine that prints Shojo manga. Nakayoshi imo differentiated itself from it's competition by having a large amount of stories about fantastical topics or the surreal. Even the more "normal" stories were often written with a more exaggerated and surreal style.

According to Nakayoshi and their game "Panic in Nakayoshi World" all the worlds of Nakayoshi exist in the larger "Nakayoshi World". This is going to be a ranking of the heroines of the Nakayoshi World based on their powers. There has been 57 serialized protagonists in the history of Nakayoshi. I must apologize that for some of the characters, especially the earlier ones, it was difficult to do research on as their manga is not readily available. 

57: Erythrocytes (Bacteria at Work!)

Erythrocytes is the weakest Nakayoshi protagonist because she is literally a red blood cell.  She is literally microscopic compared to everyone else on the list.

56: Spank (Ohayo! Spank)

Spank is a goofy and clumsy small dog. He's not as strong a person as he is much smaller. 

55: Azusa Noyama (Azuki-chan)

Is a normal 12 year old girl. Seems to be a bit short for her age, compared to her friends.

54: Najika Kazami (Kitchen Princess)

Is a 13 year old girl but is a good chef regardless, who hopes to become a chef. Is a bit taller and older then Azuki-chan, and is also suggested to be clever for her age given her nautral cooking talent.

53: Ringo Nonohara (Delicious!)

Is a 13 year old girl. She and Najima would most likely have a cook off instead of a fight :P However Ringo comes from a bit more of an exaggerated cartoony world and she has an unrealisitically fast lurning curve going from being unable to cook to being good enough to cook for her own show quickly.

52: Hikage Sumino (I Am Here!)

Is an eighth grader and a bit of a shy nerd, determined to become more extraverted and noticed by her classmates. She's smart but she's not the most physically accomplished. Shes older then Ringo and is smart.

51: Ami Uzuki (Ultra Cute)

Ami is age 15 and fairly willfull as she is used to competing with her bff Noa when they inevitably crush on the same guy and trying to win mind games for him. She is older then Hikage and more willful.

50: Otome Hasaki (Cherry Juice)

Same age as Ami, but Otome is very energetic and I think she would probably outlast her.

49: Yukina Himuro (Missions of Love/Do xx to me!)

Yukina is a third year junior high student however she is known for her intimidating aura and stare which has earned her the title of the "Absolute Zero Snow Woman". This would be probably enough to beat most of the weaker people on this list just by intimidating them. 

48: Luna (Angel's Hill)

+Can turn into a mermaid in water

+Can speak to animals

Luna's position depends a lot on environment. She should be relative to the normal humans on land and if there is a large body of water it would give her a massive advantage. She would also get a small bonus if there are animals nearby, so I felt on average she would probably win over the normal humans more then 50% of the time.

47: Mayu Kousaka (Pixie Pop)

+Due to drinking the 7 color drink, magically transforms whenever she drinks something; such a growing after drinking cold water, shrinking after drainking hot water, turning into ninja after drinking green tea etc.

Mayu's power depends entirely on if there's something for her to drink. Due to being a lot more common in standard battlefields then a large body of water, I put her above Luna

46: Miyu Kozaki (UFO Baby)

Miyu Kozaki is the adopted mother of an alien baby that does random supernatural things. While she doesn't possess powers herself, she has grown very good at quickly adapting to new situations and countering strange supernatural shenanigans. Unless Mayu gets a particularly good effect from her drink, I would bet on Miyu to win by thinking up a solution. 

45: Lii Hoshizawa (Zodiac P.I.)

+Knowledgable of astrology (uses them to solve crimes)

+Magical Star Ring (summons the 12 astral spirits who can advise her)

+Is a private detective

Lii's astrological knowledge isn't particularly helpful without prior knowledge though her ability to summon the 12 astral spirits gives her a level of advice and wisdom in how to confront a particular type of opponent which would give her an advantage against any opponent that doesn't outweight class her in raw power inlcuding Miyu

44: Natsumi Kawashima (Instant Teen: Just Add Nuts/Nuts To Make You An Adult)

+Adult Female Body

-Child's Mind

After eating miracle nuts, 10 year old Natsumi turned into an adult but still had the mind of a child. Her vs Lii is interesting in that Lii would probably have the tactical advantage but Lii is 13 while Natsumi is physically 18). I would guess the physical advantage would be too much but am unsure. 

43: Nina Yamada (Mamoette Lollipop!)

+Is somewhat physically proficient (kept from being killed by wizards in training)

+Experience seeing magic

-Kind of damsel in distress-y

Nina accidentally ate a crystal pearl that wizards in training need to get in order to pass their exam causing a lot of them to try and kill her for it. She's protected usually by two wizards in training Zero and Ichi. She does tend to let Zero and Ichi but she did actually avoid assassination and she lists her hobbies as including "sit-ups and stretches" suggesting she is somewhat physically proficient. I think she would be able to beat an adult woman especially one no more intelligent then her. 

42: Candace White Ardley (Candy Candy)

+Super cheery and optimistic and determined

+Tomboyish, climbs trees all the time

Honestly just has better physical feats then Nina does. 

41: Nadja Applefield (Ashita no Nadja)

+Tomboyish, climbs trees

+Physically Skilled (joined a performing troupe)

+Extremely optimistic and determined

Nadja and Candance are pretty similar phyiscally though I think Nadja is probably a bit more dexterous.

40: Anmitsu (Anmitsu Hime)

+Rambunctious Tomboy Princess, regularly escapes her castle

Anmitsu is likely physically comparable to Nadja, however Anmitsu is probably a lot more skilled in stealth as she regularly escapes her castle and it's guards. 

39: You Hazuki (Attacker You!)

+Star Volleyball Player

+High Jumps

You is a proficient school volleyball player. While early on it is claimed she is not good, this was solely due to her not being a team player, her actual skills are very good. She is known for her high jumps. I think she has better physical capacities then Anmitsu

38: Tsubasa Uehara (Arisa)

+Athletic Human

+Combat Experience

+Has some manipulative ability

Called the "demon princess" at her school for her tendency to get into fights and her temper suggests she would be a better fighter then You, even if the two have relatively similar physical capacities given You's athletics.

37: Chitose Fujinomiya (Goldfish Warning)

+Gag character

+Consistent gag feats of surviving improbable things like being stampeded by cows

+Fourth Wall Breaking

Chitose was a rich girl but after her she is orphaned she has to go to a poor school where some of teh students are animals. It's a very gag-y series. Chitose's gag feats of surviving random zanyness should allow her to take any of Tsubasa's attacks and beat her.

36: Tomomi/Mikage Matsunaga (Miracle Girls)

+Tomomi is a school athlete (wun a running championship)

+Mika is the resident genius at her prep school (possibly exaggerated)

+The two can teleport when together (this was initially heavily energy-draining though they got better at it)

+Can telepathically speak to each other and read each others minds though they can bar the other from reading their thoughts

+Near the end of the series their psionic powers extend to doing things like making the flowers bloom and by scaling should allow for telekinesis

-Need to be together for their powers to work

Reincarnations of a pair of Egyptian Queen Twins. Given their ability to play keep away with telekinesis and teleporting away, it would be really hard for Chitose to beat the twins unless she snuck up on them. 

35: Momoka Sonokawa (Sabagebu!)

+Is an airsoft school athele

+Ruthless and Determined to win at any cost

+Uses a Beretta 92FS

+Has dodged airsoft pellets

Momoka vs the twins is an odd one. She could hypothetically get thrown or get stuff thrown at her and if they can telekinetically take her gun then Tomomi could probably beat her physically. On the other hand she has faster reaction time feats and an airsoft pellet to a vulnerable part of the body would knock out one of the twinsin one shot, especially Mika, which would leave the other powerless. 

34: Aoi Hayakawa (Aoi-chan Panic!)

+Is half alien from a planet whose gravity to Earth's is like the Earth's to the Moon's. 

+Is super strong and super fast

Aoi-chan's homeworld has 6 times the gravity of Earth. An airsoft bullet is probably gonna just make her mad. This is especially a problem as she can superleap faster then anything Momoka has ever fought against. 

33: Princess Silver (Yume no Crayon Oukoku)

+Is an athletic princess

+Silver Crayon that causes things to come to life

+Can seal things away

Unless Aoi just tries to rush Silver, Princess Silver could probably summon up something to stop her or seal her away. 

32: Sapphire (Princess Knight)

+Born with both a male and a female heart

+Subsonic (can afterimage)

+Superhuman physical stats (can perform really high jumps and leave cracks in stone)

+Skilled enough to fight an entire castle guard with Friebe

+Sword

Sapphire vs Princess Silver comes down to if Sapphire can disarm Silver of the Silver Crayon before getting sealed. While that depends on battlefield, prior knowledge and mindset, in most scenarios I think Sapphire's level of skill would allow her too.

31: Ecchan (Sarutobi Ecchan)

+Superhuman strength (can casually knock out people in one touch)

+Subsonic speed (can move fast enough to disappear)

Ecchan vs Sapphire would be like a pop culture ninja fighting a pop culture knight except both are cute little girls. I think Ecchan has the overall advantage since she can stay out of range of the sword with ninja flips and by sticking to the ceiling and her hypnosis would be a reliable one-shot. I also think she might be faster. 

30: Mai Taniyama (Ghost Hunt)

Mai vs Ecchan depends on mindset. While a bloodlusted Ecchan would just physically overwhelm, in character Mai would be able to tell right away something is "not right" with Ecchan and attempt to end the battle quickly.

29: Hibari Hanakoganei (Cyberteam in Akihabara)

+Diva Form is City Block Level (Held back a city-block style castle)

Hibari would just massively overpower Mai in her Diva Form. 

28: Licca Kayama (Super Doll Licca-chan)

+Normal Girl who has a magic ring. Whenever she's in danger the ring summons her dolls to protect her which turns into the superheroines Doll Licca, Doll Izumi, and Doll Isamu. These use respectively a yo-yo, a baton and a sword to fight. Thery can move at least subsonic speed and defeated a Dragon that caused stormclouds across a city

Diva Aphrodite by herself isn't strong enough to defeat Licca's Dolls just by raw stats.

27: Meimi Haneoka (Saint Tail)

+Low superhuman stats

+Is possibly the most skilled magical girl in existence, regularly performing via nothing but stage magic absolutely impossible things to steal stolen things and return them to their original owners

+Massively duplicated herself

+Stole a wedding dress and replaced it with a dinosaur costume while the model was still wearing it without people realizing

+Made it snow indoors before turning into flowers

+In response to a claim that kangaroos don't wear tuxedos, Saint Tail somehow brought in a large group of kangaroos in tuxedos dancing

+It's at this point I'd like to remind that she has no actual magic, this is all just somehow her being so skilled at stage magic that she can somehow do all this

A fight being Meimi and Licca would end before it began as Meimi would probably somehow find a way to get the ring off Licca's finger because the Super Dolls were even summoned.

26: Karin Hanazono (Kamichara Karin)

+City Level+ (Gods are far more powerful then any weapon of man, Gods can casually conjure massive storms)

+MHS Reactions (reacted and shielded against the power of Zeus)

+Has the powers of Athena in the first arc, and Aphrodite in the second

Meimi does not technically have magic so Karin would be invisible to her and Karin which would be able to KO her with a casual tap.

25: Doremi Harukaze

Karin can't blitz Doremi and Doremi just have a massively more versatile magic system. Unless Doremi just messes up her spellcasting bad, she should have that fight.

24: Mew Ichigo

Cure Heart can resist mew power hax and is massively above city level baseline while Ichigo is basically at baseline. The two are comparable versatile but Cure Heart is a lot better a hand to hand fighter.

Nozomi and Mana are fairly similar normally. Mana has more resistances but this isn't really relevant and when Nozomi goes into her powered up state she would probably win.

21: Chocolate (Sugar Sugar Rune)

+At least building level (can tank boiling magma, lit up a town), higher with reality warping amped on human emotions (Vanilla created a beach, 7 High Tier Mages created Underworld which is it's own universe with it's own physics), possibly higher regardless (Ogres claimed to be able to destroy Underworld)

+MHS to Relativistic Reactions (Claimed she could fly to the Moon with her broomstick despite not being able to breath in space, suggesting she can fly there in substantially less then a minute. Numerous things corroborate this like her grandpa going on vacation to another planet)

Wendy can likely blitz Chocolate, and can absorb air in an area which is important as Chocolate needs to speak to cast and needs to breath. Wendy charging in absorbing air would giv Chocolate.

Wendy vs Love should be a relatively even fight with Wendy having power and Love having speed and both being skilled fighters. Though Love was FTL even before her super form which suggests the speed gap would be substantial and Love could hypothetically grow in power by thinking about her friends.

18: Cure Melody (Suite Pretty Cure)

I think Hibiki would be able to tank Love's punches unless Love powered up while I don't think Love would be able to dodge all of Hibiki's attacks. Also not that it hugely helps but Hibiki has a one-shot sleep technique. Also while Love is FTL before her super form, Hibiki is Relativistic Country before her super form while Love is only city in her super form. 

17: Lucia Nanami (Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch)

+Continental+ (Scales about Sara who was going to flood the Earth with the Dark Sea, has the power of Aqua Regina who was relative to Mikeru who was going to fuse his dream dimension with the human world), possibly Planetary (Mikeru was said to threaten "the survival of the planet")

+Hypersonic+ (Scales above Mermaid fodders who could swim to an opposite side of the Earth as she was giving birth, and Gackto who was able to destroy the Mermaid Kingdoms fast enough that none of them knew what was going on)

Hibiki vs Lucia would be a sing-off! However Melody can resist a lot of Lucia's abilities Lucia's raw power and sheer range as Aqua Regina would likely overwhelm her and she can not resist Lucia's seealing which Aqua Regina did to the Pantherassa Tribe). Hibiki would only win if she avoided a straight up fight and used superior speed though without prior knowledge Lucia would likely win.

16: Cure Whip (KiraKira Pretty Cure A La Mode)

+Planet Level (defeated Elisio who destroyed the Earth before recreating the Earth with the rest of her team)

+MHS (Her team launched a cake into space at mach 910 which they should be able to move relative too)

+Power and Speed can presumably rise through friendship

Reverse of the above scenario. Lucia could win just by going intangible and entering Ichika's mind however in no knowledge straight up fight, Whip wins by comparable to superior power and at least a little superior speed, likely faster by an order of magnitude.

15: Cure Yell (Hugtto! Precure)

+Planet Level (In base state defeated an enemy stronger then the KiraKira Pretty Cure)

More imortantly she has a far larger range reaching interstellar range while Cure Blossom only reaches hundreds of meters without Super Silhoutte

Miracle and Flora can both one shot with various abilities but Flora seems slightly quicker since she can perform the same speed a bit faster. In a prolonged fight however Miracle is a lot more versatile but Flora can keep that from happening by sleeping at the start.

11: Ai Enma (Hell Girl)

+Is an Hell spirit of vengeance that ferries the sinful to Hell

+Blew up a temple with a single mystic fireball, can create a volcano

Hell Girl is insane, one of the most hax characters in her particular power tier. I'm not sure Miracle would be able to effect her but if she did Hell Girl would just resurrect hesrelf and use one of her incredibly many haxes to win. 

10: Yuuki Wakasa (Dream Girl)

+Star Level+ (Is the new Amaterasu, who maintains the Sun in both Earth and the Heavenly World, fused with her spiritual body, which is the tree that holds up the Sun)

+MHS (Scales to the sun's motion which moves at MHS speed)

Ai Enma is very broken but the Horizon Girl's (Yuuki's) presence was able to briefly purify the Susanoo who was the embodiment of the rage of all nature. Yuuki's very presence would burn away at Ai Enma's Hellish existence with it's purification.

Almost any character or projectile that Amu is facing before this Amu can BFR with Road of Stars. This includes Cure Lovely and any attack she can use

Rayearth can resist the pull of Mokona's inter-dimensional pull which suggests Hikaru with Rayearth could resist Amu's Road of Stars BFR and even if not Hikaru can create portals between dimensions. Outside of that Rayearth would be able to beat Amu pretty easily just by power.

I've considered Usagi vs Sakura a lot. The two both have a long list of abilities, lots of versatility and hax. They have a lot of counters to each others various abilities. My best understanding is that Sakura wins if the two are bloodlusted but if the two are in-character then Usagi would win. On a basic level this is because Sakura's magic, while really strong and stronger then Usagi's at full power, is not really designed for combat and she has less layers of defense while Usagi's abilities are a lot more specialized for combat. This really suits their characters in general. Sakura is not a fighter, her story is the story of capturing the run amok spirits and she has fought very few actual times. Usagi's story is about the blossoming of a young girl who is not suited to be a fighter into being a heroine of love and justice. That said I would not at all mind if someone disagreed with me and thought that Sakura beats Usagi. It is a complex fight.
