Papillon Rose-verse Strategy Guide

Regional Scale Threat:

I know that this verse has a bunch of other content due to Papillon Rose's nature as a series as a verse that is adapted into many media starting out as a fanproject later being adapted officially however as far as I can tell this is the canonical version of the story consisting of the OVA and the tv series. Other versions seem to contradict parts of it and are likely different versions.

Papillon Rose stars the papillon senshi, lingerie wearing magical girls who battle threats to their town. It is an ecchi magical girl series. As such some of the stuff, particulary in the OVA is a bit...out there...

The verse's fighters are consistently low building level. Robot minions of the Susanoo can tank being dropped from their spaceships despite the fact that they are meant for cleaning and not combat. The first monster of the tv series Tsuchinogon tanked bazooka fire. One of the monsters of the Susanoo was the size of a small building and actually collapses a building by attacking through it. Papillion Dahlia was stated to be able to devastate the town. At the time she might have been amped by the power of the Kusanagi, although they were unaware of this. Finally Papillion Rose with the others' energy was created an energy wave around her that went several stories high. It's possible the verse is higher, as the Susanoo cause effects on a larger scale, and one of their monsters is theorized to be connected in some way to the volcanic eruption of Pompeii, but there's nothing concrete.

In terms of speed, the verse is consistently subsonic. Even a normal human can run fast enough their legs appear as a blur. The Papillion Senshi twice move fast enough that they appear as blurs of energy. Papillion Dahlia is able to punch fast enough to appear like she has many fists. Torakage and Sarutahiko have a fight faster then the eye. There are several other feats of people moving fast enough to become a blur or faster then people can react too. Besides movement speed one of the monsters created by the Susanoo attacks with lightning which likely moves much faster, although no one has any feat of reacting to it.

The Susanoo are an advanced alien race with extended lifespans such that they can be punished for hundreds of years. A few of them, the Susanoo sistersm using very limited of their technology threaten the Earth and are the main antagonists of the tv series, trying to take control of Akihabara so they can use the ancient Susanoo symbol at the bottom of the town to stamp the top of Mount Olympus before time runs out or their family will lose ownership of the Earth. They regularly send threats to attack the Papillion Senshi by fusing two things or more things together to create a monster. These are usually an animal and a historical person accessed through an object they used in life. These monsters are really just brute force threats and while they sometimes have an ability like lightning projection, fire projection, they are simplistic and still vulnerable to the psychological faults of whoever is used in the fusion process. The Susanoo Sisters have more things they can do however. They have a literal army of cleaning robots which can tank re-entry, can somehow create darkness or concealing clouds over the region, lift the town up to use it as a stamp, can resurrect people from the dead like they did to Papillion Dahlia and have access to Kusanagi, the legendary sword of the original Susanoo which takes control of the mind of the person holding it. All of this and they don't even have any weapons as the Susanoo Sisters headed for Earth quickly knowing they needed to stamp Olympus quickly in such a haste they forgot to bring any weapons. It is implied their weapons would be able to threaten the Earth or at least wipe all human life off it. It's also implied at one point they may have some anti-technology as in one episode when they attacked with an army of robots, one of the characters said their computer could not get a message to the outside world.

They are opposed by the Papillon Senshi. The Papillion Senshi in general demonstrate the ability to superleap, to infuse their spirit energy into physical objects increasing their power and making them grow bigger, and the ability to create plants which defuse things, which is how they beat the monsters the Susanoo create. Papillion Dahlia also at one point heals Papillon Rose from being stabbed through by Kusanagi, however this healing seems impractical in combat as not only did it take an unknown amount of time, but it also only kept her from immediatly dying; she was still unconcious even if the wound was gone. Rose in a flashback to the defeat of Regina Alpis demonstrated absorbing the other Papillion Senshi's energy to gain levitation, light/energy emanation and some kind of forcefielding effect where Regina Alpis' attacks simply bounced off. In the OVA Papillon Rose has much more explict abilities including a vibrator weapon that defeats opponents by knocking them out via extreme levels of sexual ecstacy and the ability to erase people from existence.

There's a few other notable things about the verse. The Papillion Senshi have first Hikaru and then Torakage as mysterious ally figures woh demonstrate some greater level of skill, Togakage demonstrating C Tier sword skill, and Togakage also showing mild stealth ability, able to disappear when Papillon Rose looked away for a few moments. In the OVA they were fighting a different group of enemies of which very little is known. One of them Sister Beene used a phallic whip which she could use to suck the energy out of a person. Sister Petite La is stated to have an IQ of 300. And their leader Regina Alpis was apparently strong enough that it required Papillon Rose to use the energy of the other Papillon Senshi to defeat. Also they at some point brainwashed Dahlia.

So how to fight this verse? Relative to other verses at it's power level, this verse excels in one thing; raw offense. Between things like weapons vastly beyond the characters power ranges, haxes like forced fusion, brainwashing and existence erasure, and quick lightning attacks that are hard to avoid at this tier the verse is really good at quickly killing most low building level characters. On the other hand the verse suffers from a lack of defense and versatility. In terms of defense the verse only really has The Papillon's relatively lackluster healing and Rose's weird forcefield thing she did against Regina Alpis. In terms of versatility, the verse's secondary stats are rather unimpressive. While the verse's range is generally perfectly normal for the tier, with the characters being able to attack each other up and down city streets; the characters intelligence isn't superhuman enough for it to require special strategies, their skill and stealth are impressive for humans but are still within normal human bounds, and there is no notable stamina feats.

Conceptually this means the best strategy for beating the verse isn't going for the extended combat, it's going for avoiding hits and winning quickly. Strategies like enhanced mobility to avoid attacks or stealth strategies to avoid getting hit are probably the best strategies. Trying to go for a defensive strategy isn't the best strategy as the verse probably has some way to crack it via the signifigant number of hax and strong offenses for the tier, and so a high mobility strategy that can avoid and counter-attack would likely be much more effective. This leads to what I think would be the most effective power; that being teleportation. Teleportation can be used functionally as mobility, stealth, and defense by teleporting away from any attack in the verse. Simple tricks like teleporting behind the senshi to hit them or knock away their weapons, or teleporting into the Susanoo's ship and commandering it would absolutely bamboozle the verse.

So who would be a counter? You could use

Weapon XI from the first FOX X-Men Timeline. With an optics blast he destroyed a factory tower and is calced to low building level energy. He also has hypersonic reactions able to easily react to multiple automatic bullets at once.

This version of Wade has adamantium blades sticking out of his hands which could likely one-shot anyone in the verse, even piecing through Tsubomi's forcefield. He can also teleport and is a highly skilled fighter, able to fight both Wolverine and Sabretooth, both of whom had centuries of combat experience. This combined with his casual optic blasts would give him the ability to one-shot a lot of the verse's fighters in quick succession. While defense is not a good strategy against this verse, he does have some regen as well which might help if he gets tagged by a non hax power.

That said, Weapon XI's teleportation is a bit more limited then other versions as he needs a lot of knowledge on the area to properly teleport and he could be messed up by technopathy which the Susanoo aliens are implied to possess. For a counter without these weaknesses you could use

Kei from Pretear

Kei is one of the Leafe Knights who scales to fellow Leafe Knight Goh could incinerate a tree and to Leafe Knight Hayate who can at the speed of the wind, suggesting he would be similar in stats to the verse.

As a Leafe Knight, Kei can travel from the Leafe Knight's base in another dimension to the main world and back, which would function as a form of teleportation and from which he could plan his tactics. He also has decades of experience and tactical planning, which would be much stronger then anyone in the verse.

Kei in particular is the Leafe Knight of light. Leafe Knights control the fundamental energy they are associated with, sensing it and manipulating it on at least a city-wide range. Kei could shine incredibly bright lights to blind anyone in the verse that is fighting him, taking advantage of the lack of supernatural senses to make it impossible to see him through the bright blight. Even the darkness manipulation of the Susanoo only covers a town, while Kei can control the light on a city-wide range. Kei could blind his opponents avoiding their blind attacks with his skill, teleporting around and knocking them around.

The only real weakness Kei would have is if he is swarmed by armies of robots that would find him by raw chance or if his arrogance gets the better of him. Another counter you could use is

The Spy from Team Fortress 2.

The Spy is able to do not insigifigant damage to the Heavy who can survive rockets and shotguns meaning while the Spy is weaker then the verse he can probably do damge. This is especially the case as his Backstab ability ignores durability against unarmored opponents. If you look at the outfits in Papillon Rose....they are literally wearing lingerie. The TF2 Mercenaries are able to avoid bulletfire from close range, suggesting the Spy would be similar to the verse in speed.

The Spy is a master at stealth and combat and would be extremely difficult for the verse to both find and hit let alone both at once even ignoring his other abilities. The Spy has invisibility and illusion abilities, abilities that punish strategies focused solely on damage output by making them waste their attacks while the Spy can counterattack, which make his stealth and combat skills way more deadly.

The Spy also knows magical abilities giving him more versatility then anyone in the verse but especially noted is that he has teleportation with Shadow Leap. While the range is fairly limited, this would allow him most of the advantages teleportation gives over the verse in general.

The Spy also has another small advantage in his seduction skills. The Spy is a "lady killer" and several of the female characters in Papillon Rose are distractable by a hot guy, it's very possible if he gets into a jam, given most of the fighters are female, he could seduce his way out of it.

That said The Spy's stealth is weak to fire, and there is some fire manipulation in the verse, which might be a problem given his lack of durability meaning he would get one-shot even by a normal attack. For a studier counter you could use my ultimate counter

The Masked Mutant from Goosebumps.

Physically speaking the Masked Mutant only scales to a casual wall level feat however he has a ray gun that can distinegrate a normal human which would be low building level energy. In terms of speed he scales to his nemesis the Galloping Gazelle who can move faster then the eye can see, meaning the Masked Mutant would be similar in speed to the verse.

The Masked Mutant is a supervillain that has complete control of his own molecules, meaning even if he is physically weaker, the gap is not large enough to make a difference as if he was say split into two, he could just control his molecules and reform, so long as he remains solid. Even higher levels of regen may be possible as he did return from the original book's storyline and in the Goosebumps film, monsters are shown to be able to regenerate from being turned to liquid. The only weapon in the verse that would be a conventional threat is Papillon Rose's existence erasure.

The Masked Mutant is an accomplished manipulator who uses his molecular control to turn into other people for reconnaisance. The verse has functionally no counters to this and he could hit them with the disintegrator when they least expect. Even if he is caught and he changes into a monster form, the Papillion Senshi are likely to try and defuse him giving him time to come up with a plan as he is not actually a fused being. Saying that however, if the Susanoo tried to fuse him with something, given they would be made of his molecules it's likely this would only make him stronger, a physical threat to the verse without any hinderances.

The Masked Mutant can also use more conventional stealth tactics as he has invisiblity technology he used to make invisibility curtains in his lair. He also has a form of immersion able to go from his comic book world to the main Goosebumps universe, which would likely let him go anywhere in the Papillon Rose-verse at will. Even if he thought he needed to become a physical threat, it would likely be fairly easy via either immersion or stealth to get the blade Kusanagi or take control of the Susanoo's technology, especially given his supergenius feats of inventing technology including technology that can do things like convert people into ink.

The only real threat is that the Masked Mutant could be tricked, particularly by Sister Petite La's 300 IQ, due to his bombastic and comic book supervillain type personality. At first this does seem like a plausible defeat of his, however it should be noted that Skipper only was able to decieve the Masked Mutant because of his obsession with his comic books. While decieving the Masked Mutant might be possible for Sister Petite La, it's unlikley she could actually put him down this way, especially given that the Masked Mutant actually did return anyway. The Masked Mutant would be able to stealth is way through the verse, counting any physical ability the verse has, avoiding any mental or erasing abilities via teleporting to and from inside a comic book where they could never get, disguisng himself or going invisible to avoid them even getting the chance to hit and disintegrating them or using their own attacks against them.

And that's how to be OP in the Papillon Rose-verse.

  1. This was a surprisingly straight played blog, tho I suppose It was comparable to that of your Cutey Honey blog. There was a surprisingly high number of offensive hax, but the weaknesses seemed quite funny for the most part, like lacking inteligence enough to forget their broken weapons at home, or have no armor as they literally wearing their underwear.
I Really liked a lot the counters here, particularly the Masked Mutant, all these years i thought his moleculer manipulation powers were not very impressive cause the way he was defeated was super lame, but damn did it just DESTROY this verse you found a lot of inventive ways to use that
Really loved your whole teleportation and stealth strats as well. Its super awesome how you pick extremely unconventional characters to use, Who would use Baraka Pool? IMP Would cause hes a character and is fair game.
The Spy on the other hand, he NEVER plays fair
