Death Prediction: Oswald vs Sackboy

Have you ever dreamed? Has your mind ever traveled to those strange worlds that exist in your minds? It might be your intuition that these worlds exist in you, but people get lost in those strange worlds of imagination even more then they do the world we see. If you find yourself in that strange universe we call imagination perhaps you will find yourself lucky enough to be protected by one of the guardians of imagination; like these two

Oswald, the lucky rabbit.

Sackboy, hero of Craftworld.

I'm Imperator100 and this is a Death Prediction.

Oswald:

Long ago there was a great wizard called Yen Sid who created a type of lifeform called a cartoon designed to bring joy to humanity. His first creation was a rabbit cartoon called Oswald. However for reasons beyond Oswald's control, all the attention and love was instead directed at Oswald's younger brother Mickey Mouse. Oswald went to a world Yen Sid created for the forgotton cartoons. Oswald being the first creation and first resident of the world of the forgotten, became de facto king of this world.

But things were not to remain so peaceful. Mickey Mouse stumbled into Yen Sid's work shop and fiddled with the wizard's magical paint, infecting the world with the demonic shadow blot which devastated the world of forgotton cartoons, turning into the desolate land known as the wasteland. For many decades Oswald stirred in resentment towards his younger brother who took everything from him; the fame that should have been his, who destroyed his kingdom and condemned him to this Hellscape.

Eventually decades later, the Shadow Blot grew in strength enough to take Mickey Mouse into the wasteland to steal his heart to escape the wasteland. For obvious reasons Oswald was reluctant to work with his brother. However as Mickey struggled to right his wrongs and restore the wasteland, Oswald grew to slowly understand his brother culiminating in Mickey agreeing to give up his heart, the love that people give to that cartoon to save Gus and Oswald, condeming himself to live trapped in Wasteland. Seeing this forced Oswald to confront Mickey's development over the decades and the two defeated the Shadow Blot with Oswald returning to Mickey his heart. Since then the two have been on friendlier terms and Oswald has been a steadfast ally of Mickey's.

Cartoon Physiology:

Oswald is a toon made by the wizard Yen Sid, and as such is not made of flesh and blood. Instead he seems to be made of living paint and is maintained through the ages by the joy and laughter he brings to others, something the cartoons call the "heart". When Oswald held Mickey Mouse's heart he said it was like holding the love of millions. Forgotten toons like Oswald lose their heart, and only persist because of the world Yen Sid made them, although as Oswald has appeared outside the wasteland recently, it seems he has regained his heart as people have started to remember him.

Oswald's nature as a toon gives him several abilities.

Agelessness:

Cartoon characters don't age naturally and will not die so long as people remember and are brought joy by them. Oswald was canonically at least 18 as of 1927 to be of legal age to be in the military during World War 1, meaning he would be at least 110 this year, though he seems no older then when he started.

Malleability:

Oswald's most defining feature as a toon back during his original run was his body's extreme malleability and capability of distorting, bending or reshaping itself. Relatively mild feats of this are all over the place however some more drastic feats of malleability include the above image of him squeezing himself dry, being unharmed from twice having his head pulled through his body through his tail, and being completely fine after being smushed completely flat from being sat on by an elephant before being re-inflated by being pumped full of air. He seems to have complete control over this as he can do things like pedal his bike with his ears or squeeze his body inwards to escape the grasp of a guard trying to capture him.

Oswald can use this for a few other tricks. He once took off his face and had it act indepenent of his body to help catch a tiger cub, has numerous times taken off his head for things like avoiding attacks or to avoid attacks or use it as a bowling ball. and through shifting his body around was disguised to look like a monkey. Given the degree he can shift his body around I have to imagine he could disguise as more things should the need arise. He was also able to shift his size, though this seems more controlled by his emotional state rather then by concious will.

Regeneration:

Heavily related to Oswald's malleability, his body can easily be detached or deformed and return to normal without problems. As mentioned before he was flattened by an elephant and was fine, and also didn't seem too encumbered by being flattened by a boulder. In the original run of cartoons featuring him he showed his best feat and limit when he was reduced to bits by a mortar shot but was restored by his love interest blending his pieces together, pulling his form from the liquid and awoken by saying his name suggesting he was alive from that although without the ability to reform himself. However his regen may have gotten stronger over time as much more recently he was reduced to blobs of paint after trying to leave the Wasteland without a heart, and instantly reformed when his bits fell back into the Wasteland. This suggests he would have at least a high-mid, likely low-high regen factor.

Duplication:

On two seperate instances, Oswald was crushed into 6 smaller Oswalds who immediatly acted to rejoin as one. It's unknown how viable this would be in a combat scenario, whether each one has the same power as Oswald, 1/6th, or a much smaller amount, as both times their primary goal was to become one again. Another time he duplicated most of his upper body into two without losing any size though he found it disorienting. It's possible in all three instances that duplicating for him is a feasible idea if he needs too, but that they share one conciousness and that it is disorienting to see multiple perspectives at once.

Superhuman Strength and Durability:

Oswald's cartoon body shows the ability to physically harm things far greater then a normal rabbit could and which even without enhanced durability withstands forces of similar magnitude. The most common feat I see for Oswald's strength is this feat of him with great effort pushing the Sun back down. This feat is from the non-canon universal Oswald shorts although either way is actually a low-end feat for Oswald. Oswald is strong enough to almost push back a cap against the might of the Phantom Blot on the other side and was able to fully do so with Mickey and Gus' help. When enraged he was able to break the cap holding the Phantom Blot for decades by jumping. All this strongly suggests he should scale to Phantom Blot at least in terms of raw power, which isn't particually surprising as he and Ortensia fought the Phantom Blot originally even being engulfed by it's form without taking any physical damage.

The Phantom Blot, the monster made by Mickey's meddling was a monster capable of unmaking the entirety of the wasteland. The Wasteland is it's own dimension with a moon and seemingly even with a sun. While the Sun part may be an unknown other light source as this thing might also be the Wasteland's Sun, it definitely does seem to contain stars as multiple times a starry night sky shown in the Wasteland and when Oswald was looking through a telescope at a hole in reality, he was asked if he was sure it was not a star, strongly suggesting the Wasteland has stars. While the timeframe for the Phantom Blot's destruction is unknown, to be able to destroy a celestial body like a star via raw power requires at least overcoming it's GBE showing the Phantom Blot would have to be at least star level. This power could be far higher as it's not implied this would take any long period of time. Assuming that the night sky implies the exisence of a structure at least the size of the Local Interstellar Cloud, the smallest inter-stellar cosmic structure containing our Sun, a structure 30 lightyears across it would have a volume of 9.57e52 meters squared, a volume nearly 68 septillion times the Sun's volume of ~1.41e27 meters cubed. Even assuming the Phantom Blot was going to destroy over a day straight it would still be destroying spacetime sizes ~786 quintillion times the Sun's volume every second. Even just saying it's as large as the distance to Proxima Centauri, the nearest other star to the Solar System, at 4.243 lightyears away would require the Phantom Blot to destroy an area of spacetime over 275 quadrillion times the volume over the Sun every second to destroy the dimension in a day's time. This lowballed estimate would also give the dimension a volume over 41 times that of the entire Solar System.

Oswald is also likely physically stronger then his brother Mickey. Not only was he completely confident in his ability to fight him but Seers, one of the weakest type of Blotlings are treated as credible threats to him and Blotlings are just drippings of the Phantom Blot, shadows of the real thing. Mickey Mouse has his own number of stellar scaling including extremely casually pulling the sun out of the sky and scaling past Zeus who casually moved 614 stars at massively faster then light speeds. The latter feat can be calced anywhere from nearly 3 to over 4.2 FOE the energy of a supernova. Solar System level for reference starts at 5.709 FOE. All of this is to say Oswald is casually a very high large stellar to star system level character.

Speed:

Most scaling I see for Oswald is scaling him to a lightning timer however these are actually bit feats to him. As mentioned The Phantom Blot was going to unmake the Wasteland and Oswald can move relative to the Phantom Blot including acting quickly enough to keep it from escaping a bottle by putting the cork in it. Assuming to destroy it he would have to at least travel it's diameter in a day, he would have to travel at least 3.2847e12 meters per second, or over 10,956c. This makes for a safe estimate of Oswald's speed.

The bigger thing that could increase his speed is speed scaling to Mickey Mouse however there isn't as clear a comparison in speed between the two as the aforementioned strength scaling and in fact it's actually in one scene implied the inverse. This isn't noted very often but the Wasteland seems to run on different time to the main Disney universe. We see Mickey interfere with Yen Sid's creation literally seconds after he finishes making it yet the residents of the Wasteland speak as though they had complete lives after Yen Sid had applied the paint to the world but before the Thinner Disaster suggesting time moves much faster in the Wasteland then outside it. Despite this when Oswald is in the Wasteland and Mickey is outside of it the two were able to interact in real time without either seemingly incredibly slow to the other despite the fact that Mickey should seem to be moving in slow motion suggesting Mickey is much faster then his brother. In the novelization Mickey also evades Oswald's attack without any noted difficulty (it may have been very difficult, may be very easy, but it does suggest Mickey is faster to some degree). However Oswald being confident in his ability to fight him and being able to react to his movements does seem to suggest Oswald's reactions might scale to Mickey's movement speed. Mickey scales in movement above Ventus who moves faster then Stitch's spacecraft calced at least over 220,000c (which would be fairly reasonable for someone of Oswald's personal speed feats to react to regardless) or the more likely over 640,000,000,000c for being able to quickly travel between galaxies.

Rabbit Abilities:

As a Rabbit Toon, Oswald has exaggerated versions of common rabbit abilities. He is a skilled and agile-jumper able to easily jump a size larger then his body while avoiding obstacles. He also has a better sense of sight then Mickey Mouse, possibly due to his consumption of carrots and a superhuman sense of hearing able to hear the egg inside a chicken. It's unknown if he has a rabbit's sense of smell, 20 times that of a human, but it's possible he would also have superhuman smell.

Luck Manipulation:

Oswald's feet are lucky rabbits feet and by rubbing or kissing them he can increase his likelihood of success. There aren't many good canonical luck feats for this ability. Pete states that with them he can pedal to the edge of the wasteland although I don't know if he's saying he's lucky so he won't be stopped, the fact that he has feat means he can pedal the ship at all (which I don't think makes sense since he already could have pedaled it without Oswald's feet) or both (I suspect it's a joke about both meanings being true)

Flight:

Oswald can fly by spinning his ears fast enough that they act as propelers, rotating fast enough to push air molecules in the opposite direction creating lift.

Toonforce:

Oswald as a cartoon has a natural connection to the power of toonforce, a form of power noted for it's ability to defy physics with the aim of causing laughter and joy in viewers. Toonforce gives Oswald most of the rest of his abilities.

Temporary Levitation:

Oswald can perform the classic toonforce gag of defying gravity by running off an object into thin air and then running back so long as he does not look down.

Animation/Malleability Bestowal:

Oswald's most used toonforce ability, things he touches or are near him he can spontanteously give life and the ability to deform their shape similar to himself. The surviving information about the Oswald short "Ride Em Plowboy" suggests he would be able to do this via song as well. This ability is strong enough that he once made a picture come to life without even meaning too. When a goat ate Oswald's musical instrument he simply manipulated the goat's body to turn it into his new musical instrument and was able to take the head off a chicken without it dying.

An important note about Oswald's animation is that the things he animates seem to possess their own wills. This can be a weakness as it means they don't neccesarily have to do what Oswald wants however it can also be an advantage as it means they can act independent of Oswald should he be unable to give commands such as when his pants acts independently to run to Oswald while he was busy being chased by some lions. Regardless they do seem to respond to his emotional state such as when Oswald's gun changed from a large real gun to a small toy in response to his fear.

Anti-Intangibility:

Oswald interacts with non-physical things fairly regularly. He was able to physically redirect a water sprout and was able to physically pick up a person's shadow and hide under it. More impressively he was able to physically interact with a sound effect showing he can effect things on a metafictional plane of being.

Spittlekinesis:

Oswald has the ability to manipulate his own spit which seems to be some kind of combination of his animation ability and his anti-intangibility. Oswald has spit which landed perfectly on the ground, bounced back into his head which he then grabbed it and put it away. He has also weaponized it to defeat an enemy that was earlier a threat to him.

Animated Shadow:

Another combination of his animation and anti-intangibility, Oswald can interact with his intangible shadow, animating it to come to life and give it physical objects to fight for him.

Aspect Removal:

Oswald can physically remove the properties of things, in particular removing the stripes from a tiger as shown above.

Metafictional Interaction:

Perhaps the ultimate expression of Oswald's ability to interact with intangibile things is his ability to manipulate the metafictional constructs like sound effects and word balloons, changing them into any physical object he might need or bringing them to life to help him. Oswald said the word "Whoa" which physically stopped his horse and the musical notes he made spontanteously came to life and started fighting. Upon being confused Oswald generated a thought balloon he used the thought balloon as an actual balloon and the question mark as a connection to connect the balloon to a dog plane to make it fly. He was also able to read the word "Help" said by a character and adjust it into a makeshift vehicle. This also shows he can see on a metafictional plane, seeing metafictional constructs.

Metafictional Aspect:

In the 2013 short "Get a Horse" Oswald has a secret hidden cameo appearing in "the real world", a metafictional layer higher then the main Disney Universe. Notably this was released long before he showed he could leave the Wasteland, meaning this is likely a metafictional aspect, possibly the same that appears at Disney Parks which are canonically meant to be the same characters. This is actually possibly the same ability as one Mickey showed where after he froze time, a metafictional aspect of him appeared to give advise to his main self.

Paint/Thinner:

While paint and thinner are far more associated with Oswald's brother Mickey, Oswald is strongly implied to be able to use them in the comics where it is stated he and his allies searched for the right combination of paint and thinner, the Phantom Blot's own essence, to beat the Phantom Blot. This is also implied in the main story both game and comic when it's noted the ship Oswald made was held together solely by paint strongly suggesting he used paint to maintain the ship's integrity. While it's unknown how much he has so he probably he has a fairly limited quantity conseratively, and he doesn't know all the techniques/skills of his brother, he should be able to access the more basic abilities of paint and thinner. They're treated as the ultimate weapons of the Wasteland.

Paint is fundamentally the power of creation, and it's implied that with it Oswald created a recreation main streats USA of Disney Parks with it, suggesting his paint scale it at least on the scale of multi-city blocks. If his skill is similar to Mickey's he might be able to create things as big as stars with it. Paint can also be used to restore things even things metafictionally erased by Thinner or whose essence was stolen leaving them "inert" (the inverse of being toon). Paint can also make enemies friendly, possibly by remaking their essence to be friendly as Paint can be used to boost the essence of things.

Thinner is fundamentally the opposite of paint and thins out things of paint, erasing them. Notably this erasure is less effective on non-toon objects in particular the mechanical enemies although still works somewhat. Thinner can also render things "inert", without their essence or toon-iness rendered lifeless and somber. During the Phantom Blot's initial attack before it even grew stronger it used the power of Thinner to erase entire sections and steal the cartoon life from hundreds of people at once, rendering them insert. Living beings being rendered inert seems to petrify them, turning them into living statues, thematically the opposite of animation ability, removing their essence. Finally thinner can be used to create holes in space.

Related to this there are inkwells in the Wasteland Oswald can use to gain temporarily invulnerability or invisibility depending on type, although this is battlefield dependent and would not normally come into play.

Resistance to Paint/Thinner:

Possibly due to his massive amount of exposure, Oswald has developed a resistance to Paint and Thinner over time. As mentioned before, even being engulfed by the Phantom Blot did not change Oswald's properties despite the Phantom Blot being a mass of paint and thinner capable of restoring the entirety of the Wasteland. Due to verse equalization, this suggests Oswald probably has a level of resistance to abilities similar to the haxes of Paint and Thinner.

Hammerspace/Other Equipment:

Oswald has the ability to pull items from nowhere, an ability commonly called "Hammerspace". Typically these include fairly mundane objects that fit his current situation like a gun, parachute, a thermometer, a top hat and cigar etc. However his strongest convention weapon is his fireworks, an explosives weapon that destroyed the Phantom Blot, albeit it was already weakened.

His most famous weapon is his remote control which he uses to create electricity. This can be used to create fields or streams of electricity as an attack. Oswald can use the electricity in combination with his intellect to hack into machines and reprogram them.

Intelligence:

Oswald is a supergenius technology that along with the mad doctor built advanced tech like fully advanced AI versions of Donald and Goofy out of LITERAL garbage. He was also able to send a message to Mickey in other dimension through his TV in "Power of Illusion". And his intellect expands beyond the scientific sphere, back in his original run he was something of a trickster figure and a manipulator who would do things like manipulate his goat into pushing the trolley in "Trolley Troubles" or catching the dangerous criminal Pete by tricking him into a jail cell after a chase in "Ozzie of the Mounted". He also occasionally deployed stealth such as avoiding guard detection in "Bright Lights"

Oswald is also a skilled fighter. He has shown sword fighting skill on screen and was a part of the army in the first world war, meaning he would have to go through basic combat training. This would make him at least Mid C tier by my metric. It's possibly his skill could be far higher as he spent the decades between 1920s and the time of Epic Mickey's release in 2009 fighting the Phantom Blot's forces, suggesting he may have a literal lifetime of combat experience, equilvalent to Mid to Upper B tier. Even this may be too low because, as mentioned before, it seems like time moves differently in the Wasteland so he may have experienced far more time engaged in battle with the Phantom Blot's forces. He is most known for his spin attack where he jumps and spins to stun or knock away enemies. It can also be used to reflect projectiles.

Weaknesses:

While Oswald is a pretty good manipulator, he can be himself rather tempermental, quick to anger and impulsive meaning he can also be manipulated at times or just not think things through, in the original series he would most often get himself in trouble trying to impress a girl or similar attempts to prove his ego. His ego can lead him to doing dumb things, and he is stated to not be able to turn down a dare.

As mentioned before Oswald, for a long time, could not leave the Wasteland because he lacked a heart. I don't think this weakness still applies, not only has Oswald made brief cameos in the 2013 Mickey Mouse series but Disney Japan released a Holiday Short showing Oswald and Ortensia in a winter home in a snowy landscape that is not the Wasteland.

Also his lucky feet can and have been stolen.

Personality:

The family relation can be easily seen between Oswald and Mickey. Both are characterized as courageous, adventurous, fun and occasionally mischeivous. That said possibly in part due to their different histories, Oswald is charactierzed as more tempermental, grumpy and sour then Mickey. While not as gullible as Mickey, he can be anti-social and too UNtrusting. Despite this he is ultimately good-hearted and wants to protect the people of the Wasteland and their dreams. When Oswald was created most cartoons stars lacked personality however Walt Disney wanted to created cartoons that could use the "emotion" gag, that came to life and who could be laughted at or related too by having emotional flaws like Oswald's.

Oswald's greatest fear and dislike is to be forgotten again. As king of the world of forgotten cartoons he presides over the domain of the past which is why he's constantly lingered on the past, trapped there seemingly eternally by people forgetting him. When he saw Mickey who he had only ever, could only ever think of as the one that stole everything that was his wilingly up his heart it forced him to confront the decades of progress that had occured and when he returns Mickey's heart to him instead of taking it for himself, it is him finally accepting the past and ironically being allowed to move on and gain a heart of his own.

Sackboy:

Have you ever wondered what dreams, fantasies, and ideas are made off? We call this sphere we live on the Earth but to the rest of the omniverse it is called the "orb of dreamers" for the people of this world are known for their imaginations, brains pulsating with creativite energy. This creative energy we call imagination floats up, encompassing from the atomic to the galactic, rising from this world in a stream of ideas and creativity whose current break off and from which flows an ethereal dreamscape of wonder and possibility called the Imagisphere. At the cusp of this stream is a world called Craftworld by it's inhabitants and to outsides sometimes known as the LittleBigPlanet.

In the heart of the world of Craftworld  there lives a town called Loom where resides the Sackfolk, a group of sockpuppet people, Craftworld's gentlest and more enterprising people. Most notable of there is the Knitted Knight Sackboy. Knitted Knights are heroes of the Imagisphere, and protectors of the worlds within. Sackboy has certainly lived up to such a title, saving the whole of the Imagisphere several times over.

Sackboy has risen to the level of the Content Curators, the rules of the Imagisphere who continually build, rebuild and maintain the worlds of the Imagisphere, becoming one of the driving forces of the whole Craftcosm. He has many names, perhaps the most fitting being "Silent Friend" for his limited ability to communicate and his eternally friendly helpful disposition.

Sackperson Physiology:

Sackboy is one of the Sack Folk, a species of sockpuppet people existing in Imagisphere that are described as the gentlest and most enterprising people in the Craftworld. As a Sack...Thing, Sackboy has numerous abilities.

Conceptual Nature:

Everything in the Imagisphere is conceptual in nature, being made out of imagination and creative energy. It's nature is stated at the beginning of every single LittleBigPlanet game. Here are their openings with what I believe to be the most important parts bolded.

LittleBigPlanet 1 Opening: "...their vast imaginations teaming with creative energy. Where does it all go? Up through a Cerebrum-billical cord where it collects with all the other dreamers' energy. And something wonderful happens. It forms a world, an ethereal dreamscape of adventure and possibilities, an abstract plane of beautiful wonderment just waiting to be explored."

LittleBigPlanet PSP Opening:  "Ideas. What happens to ideas after our minds have summoned them into existence? They rise up like balloons caught in a Summer breeze. They scale our Cerebrum-billical cords, those magnificent invisible conduits connecting our brains to the Imagisphere. There they collect, grow, intertwine, prosper, and form another world. No matter what trivaliaties the waking world throws at us, our ideas keep coming and adding to that world; a solitary notion on the bus, a random thought in the street, a surreal brainwave in the shop: LittleBigPlanet."

LittleBigPlanet 2 Opening: "Dreams. Fantasies. Ideas. Where do they go when life brings you tumbling back to the now? One by one they drift away into the Cosmic Imagisphere. From the atomic to the galactic they dance and whirl unfettered by worry and concern, the heavenly ballet of the wonder plane. And sometimes this dance creates something astonishing; Out pops a transcendenal dream verse, a remarkable place where the real meets the fantastic. And this vast expansive imagination has a name, they call it....LittleBigPlanet."

LittleBigPlanet PS Vita Opening: The Imagisphere: an intangible aura that hugs planet Earth; embracing every idea that emanates from your brilliant minds. This ethereal world is our 'happy place'. ... Bring your own personality along for the ride, your thoughts, your dreams, your unbounded rolling concious and inventing creativity, all the things we adore about you.

LittleBigPlanet Karting Opening: "...what happens to the myriad random thoughts you have as you gaze out the window? The ideas that combust and tick over in your internal suggestion engine, your subconcious. Well, ideas are energy and energy never dies. They motor skyward into the imagisphere revved up with "are we there yet" anticipation. Melted together they form an escape route paved with exhilarting opportunities, an ever-expanding arena of challenges with rewards beyond any Earthly aspiration. It's a boulevard of broken dreams, a reality built on fantasy, a place you can put your imagination pedal to the medal in a contest of comradery and creativity."

LittleBigPlanet 3 Opening: "...We are forever emitting sparks of imagination...in every mind is a piece of code that operates our creative functions. It forms a conduit called the Cerebrum-billical cord that extends to the farthest realm of imagination....Everyone on this Orb of Dreamers contributes ideas. They ascend the Cerebrum-billical cord to congregate in the Imagisphere, the natural home of our creative wanderings.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure Opening: "...It's called the Imagisphere, and it's made up of all the creative thoughts and ideas anyone has ever had. Yes that's right, even yours! And it all comes together to make a planet called Craftworld."

To summarize: every single idea and dream, concious and subconcious are a form of energy emitted from the brain which rises through something called the Cerebrum-billical cord, merging with all others to form an intangible transcendental dream-verse surrouding the Earth, making up it's aura. This verse seems to be a full abstract universe call the Craftcosm or Imagisphere, with a specific planet called LittleBigPlanet or Craftworld, although the name for the world and the universe are sometimes used interchangbly. Sackboy as a being from this world is naturally also made from creative energy/imagination and is similarly a being of the abstract plane.

Immortality/Regen:

Sackboy is made out of imagination and creative energy means he can't die. When something would destroy his conceptual form, he always reappears at the last checkpoint he reached. These checkpoints can have finite or infinite lives and are strewn about the universe. While any individual checkpoint is fairly easily to destroy for anything that can effect them, as they appear to just be regular wooden doors, it's the number and distance between them that makes it nigh impossible to kill a Sack Folk.

Superhuman Strength and Durability:

As imaginary beings, Sack Folk have strength and durability not limited by human limits. Most people bring up the fact that Sackboy has been in numerous violent planetary explosions without damage and while true this is actually surprisingly a lowball for Sackboy's power.

In the latest game Sackboy defeated Vex. Vex, to gain power, was draining the stars of their energy one by one so he could power his Topsy Turver. In it's lifetime a main sequence star will produce 1.3e44 joules, or 1.3 FOE, the energy of a supernova. Despite this Sackboy's punches still hurt Vex. This is possibly supported as the Huge Spaceship possibly flung a star at ftl speeds away from it's flight although the animation is a bit unclear here. Negativitron easily brought down the Huge Spaceship yet Sackboy can still do physical damage to Negativitron.

Superhuman Speed:

Sackboy is fast enough to keep up with Negativitron, even dodging his laser attacks. There's been numerous calcs for Negaitivitron's speed and LBP-verse spacecrafts (which Negaitivtron can outpace) at values of MHS to FTL. However this is a signifigant lowball to Negativitron's, and consequently Sackboy's, speed.

Negativitron is stated to be a threat to the cosmos. Now granted, it IS Avalon Centrifuge saying that so it's very possible it could be exaggerated however Larry Da Vinci also states the entire cosmos depends on you and given the Content Creators who rule over the entire Imagisphere were having trouble dealing with Negativitron this seems like a fairly credible statement. Our universe is expanding at a rate of 10,000c and if the Negativitron is to threaten the entire cosmos regardless of timeframe it would need to be at least that fast assuming the Craftcosm expands at a simialr rate to our cosmos. This is also likely a lower-end estimate as it's never implied Negativitron is going to take a particularly long time, and it's speeds could very likely be as high as the billions to trillions of times the speed of light assuming it could move across the cosmos in days to years.

Fourth Wall Interaction/Enhanced Senses

Sackboy can hear the narrator and in fact learns how to do things in each tutorial by listening to what he says. This is a form of metafictional hearing. Also he has enhanced hearing in general as he can use echolocation to navigate in the dark.

Popit:

At any time Sackboy can bring up his Popit, which gives him amazing abilities to manipulate the Imagisphere as he ventures through it. The Popit is described as the most useful tool since some swiss bloke welded a knife and a screwdriver together and that it makes the sistine chapel look like something you'd stick on a fridge with a novelty magnet. It has specific specific functions.

Character Customization:

The first ability Sackboy learned with his Popit, Sackboy can alter his appearence or his material at will. As this is mostly aesthetic it doesn't usually help in combat although if he's trying to blend in he can pick costumes to look like the people around, can pick a color/material to camoflouge with his surroundings or pick a costume that resembles a character that would disorient his opponent from seeing. There is a very large selection of costume parts.

Stickers and Decorations:

While stickers change the aesthetic of things, decorations are actual "physical" objects applied to objects which also seem to change traits. Other then that it functions exactly like stickers. Sackboy applying a horse's tail triggered the horse to be ready for the race.

I don't believe there's a full list of every sticker and decoration online however stickers are divided into 14 categories: Animals, Architecture, Body, Colors, Concepts, Decorative, Doodles, Face, Foliage, Objects, Realistic, Scenic, Signs, and Text while decorations are divided into 6 categories: Accessories, Animals, Characters, Foliage, Jewelry and Scenery. An incomplete list of both can be found here.

Chat:

Sackboy can create words with the Chat function, which allows him to actually communicate hypothetically as he can't actually speak, just make grunts and yells.

Self-Detonation:

Undeniably Sackboy's greatest ability, he has the ability to hold his breath until he explodes. While this obviously provides massive benefit in almost every situation, it also can send him back to last checkpoint manually if he gets stuck.

Create Mode:

Sackboy has attained the level of the content curators, the people who maintain the Imagisphere and as such can enter "Create Mode" via his Pod and can exit back to "Play Mode" at any time. In Create Mode Sackboy becomes "godlike" and can create whatever he wants, to the point of creating entire "strange new worlds". In this form Sackboy is naturally immune to every hazard that he can create and can make invisible objects visible and vice versa. He also has far more extensive abilities.

Flight:

In Create Mode, Sackboy has natural flight so he can look down upon his vast creations while soaring through the air.

Time Manipulation:

In Create Mode Sackboy can freely rewind, fast foward and pause time for everyone who is not a Sack Folk.

Telekinesis:

When in create mode, Sackboy's Popit becomes charged with astounding creative energy, giving him new options. First of these is the ability to telekinetically grab objects and suspend them in the air.

Creation:

Sackboy can use the Goodies Bag to use all the objects he has collected traversing the worlds to create things. These come in two varities: objects and materials. A nearly complete list of all objects and materials can be found here.

Objects are fully made items. Materials are things to be made off that Sackboy can create new items with. The most notable of these are:

Metal/Stone: Heavy Materials Sackboy can't break
Peach Floaty: Material that floats away if not held
Pink Floaty: Hovers in the air
Dark Matter: Unlike dark matter in real life, LBP-verse dark matter is a harmless material that is unaffected by gravity, although like real dark matter is it invisible.
Acid: Dissolves things
Ice: Slippery
Bounce Pads: Make things bounce high

Sackboy can also use this tool to change the material of things

Existence Erasure:

Sackboy can hover his cursor over things to delete them.

Reality-Warping:

Sound Creation:

In Create Mode Sackboy has the ability to create and adjust music.

Hazard Tools:

Sackboy can recreate the tools that threaten him normally with Create Mode including fire, electricity, poison gas and so on, applying it to objects or placing it in the environment. His most dangerous weapon is likely his explosives, divided into impact explosives which explode on impact and trigger explosives which explode upon switch activation.

Physics Manipulation:

Sackboy in Create Mode can adjust physics to do things like change gravity and can also effect functions of the level like checkpoints or the starting gate. He can create portals, seal off his level making it so nobody else can enter and manipulate the game's camera. This acts as a form of metafictional perspective manipulation though it's usage in combat is limited beyond giving him a greater field of vision.

Emitters:

Emitters are a device Sackboy can create to continually output any object in the game.

Powerups:

In Create Mode Sackboy can freely create and remove power-ups. These aren't super helpful in Create Mode regardless since he can naturally fly and create all the effects they can but it does hypothetically mean if he switches out of Create Mode he can still use his Create abilities to limited degrees. A list of powerups can be found here. Possibly the most notable are the Grabinator which increase strength and the Popit Power-Up which allows Create Mode powers ooutside Create Mode.

Sackbots:

While Sackboy can create many things in Create Mode, the arguably most useful are the Sackbots, an army of Sack Folk-like robots. Designed to help members of the alliance, including Sackboy, sackbots will follow Sackboy like clingy puppies. Sackboy animates the Sackbots and tells them exactly what to do because, as robots, they lack much independent thinking. Regardless they were strong enough to fight Negativitron's forces who were credible threats to the alliance against Negativitron.

Dreamer Orbs:

Pod:

The Pod is a spaceship Sackboy travels around the system with, and can easily fly inter-planetary distances. It's stated to be like a cross between a bedroom and one's first shed, and Sackboy can customize it however he likes. In the Pod is the Pod Computer which allows Sackboy to enter Create Mode and guides the rocket.

Intelligence:

Sackboy is considered the most creative thing in the universe, fitting for a character that is the embodiment of the power of imagination. Not only can he easily create advanced tech and alter them like his Sackbots but he has attained the level of the Content Curators including N.A.O.M.I. the supercomputer of an interstellar civilization who invented things like time travel and virtual reality suites.

Sackboy also has an uncannily strong ability to learn new skills quickly. Content Curator Grandmaster Senshi taught him martial arts quickly, with him surpassing her ability to save her cat from the terrible oni. With her being a Grandmaster, this suggests Sackboy has become a top tier martial artist in minutes. He did in fact defeat the Oni, with a little help from her fire-breating cat. He learned weapons to the point of passing from Avalon's Advanced Armaments Academy with an A...for Avalon. He also beat N.A.O.M.I. after she deployed her anti-Sackboy measures to stop him. This is an interstellar civilization's supercomputer using measures specifically devoted to stopping him and he beat it.

Weaknesses:

The Sack People are known for their friendliness, courage and hard working natures, not their strength or size. While their size seems to vary between games it's never larger then a child, and while Sackboy can somewhat physically compete with the verse top tiers, he is usually portrayed as the underdog struggling greatly against them. He's also more suspectible then normal to sharp objects and flame as a sockpuppet person.

He also has some psychological weaknesses. Sack Folk are a gentle people and Sackboy is mildly pacifistic, not wanting to hurt people more then neccesary, preferring to make friends. He's also somewhat simple-minded despite his intelligence, like a supergenius child. He's very gullible, for instance in the latest game when Vex was corruping N.A.O.M.I. she told Sackboy she hoped he found his stay "short and lethal" and he didn't think anything of it. It's possible Sackboy is so good-natured the idea of deception just doesn't occur to him, or that he's so creative he can simply come up with too many good explanations for strange behavior.

Personality:

Sackboy is a friendly, optimistc and creative being who is wholly befitting of the title of the silent friend, a force of nature that travels around the Craftcosm helping with any difficulty great or small he runs across. Despite his lack of speech, his personality from his facial expressions seem to show that he is an extraverted, slightly simple but wholly good-natured creature that likes to enjoy the wonders of the imagisphere.

Sackboy initially didn't have much of a personality as he was meant to be the ultimate blank canvas, for imagination to be projected on. But as the games went on, and especially with the final game he has picked up the archetypal persona of imagination itself, accepting, curious and fun.

Alright, the combatants are set. It's time......for a DEATH PREDICTION!!!

As the pod landed down in this strange dimension, Sackboy looked out with concern. This strange place was different to any he had seen before, not buzzing with the vibrancy of the rest of Craftworld, as if it had fallen from that aura buzzing around the Earth. Looking around he saw a huge amount of garbage piled up and oddly all of it seemed to be themed around a mouse character.

"Wow...these people must really love this mouse..." Sackboy thought. "I know! I'll build a little level here based around this Mouse to bring joy to them!"

Oswald had seen something unusual, a rocket, seemingly descending into the Wasteland. Who would throw out a rocket? Perhaps it could be salvaged and used as a part of Tomorrow City...however he found something far more bizarre. As he reached the area he saw a giant building being constructed with the culprint being some kind of small sackdoll thing...At the front were two giant statues of Mickey Mouse looking heroic.  Oswald no longer resented his brother so much, though this seemed annoying, like the person was trying to mock him.

"Hey!" Oswald yelled out. "What do you think you're doing?!"

Sackboy was just busy finishing up the Mouse level, hitting the starting checkpoint and switching out of creative to test it when he heard a voice addressing him. Sackboy turned and saw an adorable fluffy bunny and getting a big smile, raced forward to give it a big hug. Before he knew it, Oswald found himself being gripped by the strange sack creature. Quite annoyed, and slightly worried what he was doing Oswald waved his arms rapidly to break Sackboy's hold.

"Get off me ya lug!"

Sackboy saw the bunny's annoyed's exclamation and playfully made a big angry face in imitation. 😡 This was the last straw for Oswald whose face turned red and steam blew out of his ears before he put up his fists and said.

"Alright pal, you wanna fight? Put em' up!"

Fight!

Sackboy raised his arms and one leg in an exaggerated martial art pose. Oswald attempted to pouch the Sack Folk but Sackboy, countered, knocking away the punch and throwing a swift kick into Oswald's side.

Oswald looked at him with confusion, he had barely felt the attack. Quickly snatching Sackboy, he did a quick hop and the force upon entry burst the Sackboy. Suddenly Oswald heard a sound behind and he truned to find Sackboy reappearing from the checkpoint.

"Well...you're a strange one, aren't you?" Oswald murmured more to himself then anything.

Oswald quickly left the area, hoping to lure his enemy to an area more advanteous. Sackboy followed the strange rabbit eagerly circling around and around the garbarge pile until they became a blur. The colors of the wasteland swirled in front of Sackboy's eyes. He was unused to the area and near the original checkpoint he stopped for a bit, looking around for the bunny.

Suddenly hopping near him was a very familiar looking figure. It looked identical to the rabbit before except wearing a very large pair of glasses and unfitting human nose.

"If you're looking for the rabbit he went that way..." the stranger said pointing over a very perculiar large carpet seemingly out of place. In response Sackboy of course got a big happy smile and said with text function "Thank you! 😄 " Sackboy bounded that way only to fall down the pit under the carpet with a loud THUD.

Oswald took off his disguise and quickly used paint to build a bunch of metal bars on his impromptu trap, wiping the sweat off his brow. He looked down to see the sack thing getting quite angry. Oswald was happy to see it until he saw the creature pop and heard the same respawn sound as before.

Not wanting to but doing it anyway he turned and saw the smiling form of Sackboy. Angrily he took out his remote and started shooting lighting blasts at the sack thing. Sackboy saw the lightning and getting more worried ducked and dodged and weaved around the eletrical blasts as he started to bound closer to the rabbit.

Oswald seeing this rallied his concentration and split his upper self in two, one to keep shooting lightning and one to rub his lucky feet. "Lucky feet, don't fail me now!" he requested as he rubbed one intensely. Saying so, his remote's lightning struck true, blasting Sackboy squarely on shooting him through the checkpoint, breaking both.

"Bulleye!" He thought triumphantly

Respawning in the Pod Sackboy thought to himself "Wow, this guy's not messing around!" For security's sake he engaged Create Mode. Oswald watched in bewilderment as Sackboy flew out of the Pod and prepared himself for a serious fight.

Oswald flew high into the air and tried to rain down lightning on Sackboy. Sackboy just smiled and held up his hand, the lightning harmlessly running off him. Sackboy brought up his popit...

Oswald saw a strange translucent thing coursing with power appear next to Sackboy. The next moment he felt a metal bolt attached to his form, the metal strangely sitting in his paint. The silent friend brought out the grapple gun and connected to the bolt in Oswald quickly reeling up to him faster then his own flight.

The lucky rabbit, thinking quick flew straight up at speeds greater then light, taking his worried enemies with him. Through clouds of wonder and nostalgia they traveled up and up. Taking the "Thank You" message out of his pocket and rearraging it into a heavy anvil, Oswald delicately and with a self assured smile attached it to the other end of Sackboy's grapple gun rope and let go.

All of a sudden, Sackboy felt himself faling, pulled down by a heavy anvil. Without a moment to spare, Sackboy tweaked the gravity in the section and soon was floating up again.

Oswald was quite surprised when the little sack figure suddenly came rushing back up at him faster then he was falling a moment ago. He was even more surprised the moment Sackboy's reached his elevation Sackboy gave him a little wave and suddenly the gravity intensified again, so dramatically he could not fly sending them hurtling to the ground. Oswald took off his foot again and rubbed it for luck.

Sackboy, as though unaffected by the gravity, floated gently to the ground . Meanwhile when Oswald hit the ground, creating a very distinctively rabbit-shaped hole in the ground. However to Oswald's surprise, the ground was thin and he fell by good fortune into an invisible ink well.

Above the ground, Sackboy saw the hole and was considering following. Getting a bright idea he used his character customization to switch to black material before going in, camoflauged in the dark. However unknown to him, in the big empty caverns even the patter of tiny feet can be heard by keen rabbit ears.

Oswald reached out and grabbed Sackboy, and to the Sack Thing's shock, he was soon bare again as Oswald literally removed the color from him. Sackboy embarrased covered himself while Oswald used his other hand and knocked Sackboy to the other side of the cavern.

Oswald felt confident in his advantage being invisible for the moment but like a Sackbat, his enemy started releasing echolocation sound waves making the rabbit cover his ears in pain. Sackboy finding his target literally removing the invisibility from his target and shone his illuminator on him, making Oswald stumble backwards from the combined audio and visual assault. Sackboy jumped up and down, eager to have this advantage. He knew this advantage would likely not last that long and so started crafting.

Oswald's ears picked up a slight jingle jangle.

"Robots?" He thought.

Through the dark thanks to his keen eyesight from years of eating carrots, he could make out a ton of little sackboy animatronics coming at him in the suddenly much more cramped cavern.  He quickly pulled out his remote and held it aloft, conjuring an electric field to paralyze the machines. The blue lightnign eerily lit the cavern and for the briefest moments the lucky rabbit and the silent friend saw each other again illuminated.

"Maybe I can give him a taste of his own medicine!" Oswald thought, starting to reprogram the sackbots.

Seeing the remote had given Sackboy an idea what was going to happen and he quickly moved his Popit cursor towards the remote hoping to take it from his enemy. Through the darkness Oswald could see the glowing cursor of the Popit. His brow furrowed at what seemed to be the source of his troubles and he grabbed the other end of it. To the utter shock of Sackboy, he felt someone grab the other end of the Popit cursor. Oswald heaved and Sackboy was scraped along the end of the cavern wall, thrown to the far end where he entered.

Sackboy picked himself up painfully and quickly flew out of the area with the dangerous angry bunny. He conjured an emitter and wanting something that wouldn't hurt his Sackbot friends, set it to knockout gas which quickly flooded into the cavern.

Oswald smelt the slightest scent of toxic gas and his mind went back...back decades ago to basic training. Sergeant Hop used to say "The Germans are gonna try and spray us with gas down in the trenches like rats....no offense to the rat privates assembled. That's why you need to always remember one of these!" The image flashed in Oswald's mind and he let out an excited yelp which he quickly fashioned this way and that way.

Above ground, Sackboy waited for the gas to knock uncouncious his enemy so he could be restrained without further threat but to his worriment the rabbit came flying out of the hole wearing a World War-1 styled gas mask completely unharmed. The two surveyed each other who had so much more power then they realized at the start of this.

His fabled creative mind racing, Sackboy decided to try a different tactic. He adjusted the darkness and mistiness of the environment to maximum, obscuring the battlefield.

"Hmmm, you'd think he'd learn" Oswald thought listening for his opponent's position. But he was soon to learn his enemy had in fact learned. He tried hopping to nearby sound only to find the ground chisfted underfoot to feel cold. The mist and darkness cleared, showing a sepia toned wintery land and massive hill that made Oswald feel oddly at home and nostalgic. Sackboy adjusted the camera far out so he could see the entire battlefield and relevent details at once...unaware that Oswald could see the metafictional plane and could also see the entire battlefield.

In the far distance Oswald saw Sackboy hovering back turned as though he were running away. Oswald hastened to pursue but with one hop realized he fell into a trap as he felt the coldness of ice underfoot, slipping and sliding. Holding his arms out he tried to stabilize his position only to be slid into a bounce pad and catapuled upside down into an ice block, holding his body sans his head. He struggled but found the ice difficult to break strangely.

Far away Sackboy jumped up and down at his plan working. However Oswald just sighed and said "Alright pal...I didn't wanna have to do this, but you forced me."

Oswald took a deep breath and began singing "Lucky, Rabbit! That Lucky Oswald Rabbit! Nicest, Rabbit, That you ever knew!" At his singing the ice block around him spontanteously came to life and not liking the taste of rabbit spat him out, giving the rabbit a plan.

Sackboy did a double take. The Rabbit had escaped a freezing block and was now construcing something. Reminded of Victoria, Sackboy quickly set up some living cake monsters and positron cannons.

Oswald had constructed a trolley to fit the scenery and began climbing the mountain with it, avoiding incoming lasers by shifting the trolly supernaturally bending and twisting it around the lightspeed beams at breakneck speeds. He saw the strange cake monsters, clearly not robots, coming towards him, and pulled his cart stretching it so high as the mountain up into the sky so he went right over Sackboy's attempts to stop him.

Sackboy had not expected this and before he could react Oswald shot a spit blast which knocked Sackboy right on, making him explode. Far away, Sackboy respawned as Oswald expected and so he flew straight up...

Sackboy respawned and climbed out of the Pod again only to find himself suddenly being constricted by a monsterously long shadow coming from far away. The shadow's clamped down on him physically, keeping him from moving. No matter how the little sack folk struggled, he couldn't get free from it's grip. He saw the rabbit flying towards him like a helicopter, with an angry expression, illuminated against the backdrop of the Sun. This gave Sackboy an idea.

Oswald was quite frustrated by now but he had one secret weapon that might do the trick if he could get in close. His shadow was doing a good job keeping Sackboy contained however just as he got close to his frustration Sackboy simply shifted the time of day to night time causing Oswald's shadow to disappear into the darkness. With a sudden leap Sackboy lunged at Oswald, completley unexpected thanks to Sackboy's earlier evasive tactics. Sackboy taking advantage of the element of surprise switched to strength enhancing grabinators and punched Oswald's face. To Sackboy's horror and then wonder, Oswald's head was flung by the strike, not just a lethal amount but a cartoonly long amount as his neck stretched over 10 meters back. Oswald seemed unaffected save his angry face becoming slightly more assured.

"Nice try!" He said "But this bunny doesn't go down after one hit!" and he violently snapped his head back like a catapult into Sackboy's torso, popping the Sackperson's body. Oswald landed next to the pod and impatiently thumped his foot on the ground. As Oswald saw the doors of the Pod open he lunged to destroy whatever inside was respawning his enemy over and over. To his surprise he saw Sackboy hanging from the ceiling with a grappling gun, who gave him a happy little wave again. Oswald looked forward to see there was en emitter facing the entrance.

The emitter launching out a continual stream of impact explosives....

A great fireball rocked the Pod and Oswald's form was violenetly thrown from the Pod, reduced to paint. Sackboy flew out, concerned, only to see Oswald spontanteously reform from paint completely unharmed, but his face red with anger to the point of breaking the ground with every hop, his form distoring and getting bigger with rage. As he quickly got closer, Sackboy in fear froze time

An ethereal silence swept over the area as time was stopped. Sackboy looked sadly at the rabbit, his large form and features twisted in anger.

Meanwhile, floating above further, floating was another Oswald, a more archetypal rabbit of mischief, freed from even the constraints of Wasteland. Looking down he spoke to his other self.

"Come on Oswald, you can do this. Ortensia and the kids need you to pull through."

Sackboy turned his head in fear hearing a strange voice.

Oswald's other self, knowing this might be his only chance put on his most dramatic voice and said

"Ummm, yes! Sackboy! It is I, Oswald. My....um....soul is freed whenever time is stopped. Your time manipulation only makes me stronger!"

Sackboy tried to erase Oswald hurriedly, but the King of the Wasteland resisted the erasure attempts and said.

"The more time is warped, the stronger I become! Look at how your attempts do nothing to me"

Sackboy obviously hurried to unfreeze time, not wanting to make the angry bunny any stronger. Oswald unfroze from time and prepared to continue his assault however he saw his opponent's face change.

Sackboy heard in his mind the voice of Scarlet "Knitted Knights never fight alone" and the teachings of Grandmaster Senshi who taught him to clear his mind of fear. He elegantly summersaulted over Oswald and gave him a swift kick in the head.

"Ow." Oswald said annoyed turning to knock the annoyance. But each time he tried Sackboy would simply dodge and jump away, over and over. And even when Oswald did hit him, Sackboy would just pop out of the Pod again. The bunny was feeling the hits more and more. They didn't do any signifigant damage, but he was getting fed up. He pulled out his remote and created another omnidirectional electicity surge. In Create Mode the electricity did not damage Sackboy, but the sudden illumination surge surprised him, long enough for Oswald to knock him back into the Pod.

Sackboy hurried to start the Pod computer and take off, hurriedly putting more rockets onto the Pod to make it rise faster. But through his flight and stretching his arms, Oswald was able to grab onto the edge.

The Pod rocketed past the atmospheres, past the shining aura of dreams and dreams long gone by, beyond hopes and fears into that broken inky blackness where even thoughts can not linger. Oswald felt his ears slow down of their volition...no air out here to push against. Beyond the orbit of the Earth, that dreaming orb slowly fading from sight, Oswald began to pull himself up and onto the ledge, only for realize Sackboy had put ice on the ledge. Through the glass window Sackboy watched sadly as Oswald slipped on the ice and fell off the ship. However he could not have possibly anticipated what would happen next.

"I will not fall again!" Oswald thought to himself. Orienting himself facing the fast-moving ship's entrance, Oswald maintained total concentration as he ran, ran without falling despite gravity's siren call. Sackboy knew the laws of physics well, he could shape them with his imagination but what he saw was something beyond physics. Oswald ran back to the spaceship, defying gravity by NOT ACKNOWLEDING IT. With a triumphant THUD Oswald landed on the glass window of the Pod, causing Sackboy to recoil.

Oswald quickly squished his body flat as possible, slipping through the space where the ice at the bottom had melted and the glass not closed yet. That had taken a lot of concentration from him and he wasn't sure he could do that again. Sackboy quickly brought up his Popit only for Oswald with a quick hop to come down right onto the Popit knocking it from Sackboy's hand.

"No. No more." He said seriously.

Saying such, Oswald put the Popit away for safety in the ol' Hammerspace. He then performed a spin attack. Though Sackboy evaded the attack, the force sent the Pod spinning, causing much disorientation for both combatants.

Sackboy nimbly leapt from side to side to reach the computer, putting it's thrusts on, the force of which flung to Oswald to the back of the Pod painfully, his face distorting comically from the force of the thrust. As the Pod was put back into thrust, Oswald leapt into action. When Sackboy tried to evade him again, leaping from one wall to another Oswald quickly pulled Thinner from his hammerspace and attempted to blast Sackboy with it. Sackboy fell down in front of the window facing Earth, his very essence being drained, turning him into naught but a sock puppet, devoid of dreams and hopes. And against most Sack Folk this would have succeeded, but Knitted Knights never fight alone. Swirling around Sackboy was the shining silvery blue energy of dreamers from the dreamer orbs, purifiying him from the essence drain, imbueing him with creative energy and his essence, imagination.

Oswald watched in astonishment however his keen observation noticed something else. From Earth a similar silvery glow emanated around it...concentrating and flowing outwards.....an energy of the same type as Sackboy's. Oswald said "This....is your paint..."

Oswald quickly pulled out his remote and hacked the Pod computer as Sackboy was being restored into opening the hatch and dove from it, curling his body into an inhumanly perfect ball as he dove towards the shining energy pool. He rubbed his feet...if he ever needed his luck, he needed it now and with a yell threw all the thinner he had into the Cerebrum-billical cord!

Sackboy watched in horror from his window as the Cerebrum-billical cord bent and sputtered unlike had ever happened before, with massive horrific gashes appearing in the Craftworld. Desperately he turned back time. He saw the rabbit open the window and lunged forward, his hand outstretched reaching for the rabbit, his face curled in desperation. He had to stop him no matter what. Oswald had not expected this and in attempting to bend his body away was caught by the atmosphere and flung out the hatch, thrown towards the Cerebrum-billical cord.

Oswald saw it approach, slowly through space yet quickly as well....imagination....the stream of ideas.....time and thought merged together....it created....it destroyed.....Ideas were born and forgotten endlessly inside it. He literally shrunk down in fear. As the silvery energy rushed his being and his heart reached it's Zenith, his hands...his very mind reached desperately for something...anything to save him. "No, please!" He thought "I don't wanna be forgotten again!"

Far above Sackboy watched out the window sadly....but suddenly, somtehing happened. Down below he could see 3 circles of paint form, one larger and two smaller adorning the first. From it emerged a large anthromorphic mouse. The energy hit the mouse, whose paint shook from the vast power of time and imagination...but impossibly moved against it's thunderous flow. The mouse moved one hand that was close to it's heart, moved it outside the area illuminated by the energy and unfurled it. Inside, protected, was a small rabbit, quickly growing to normal size.

Sackboy manuevered the pod downwards and Oswald hopped inside. He spoke calmly despite everything. "There was only one person I knew who could withstand the love of so many millions...down there I saw that's what you mean to your world too. I understand why you came and kept coming over and over." And saying so Oswald haded Sackboy his Popit and his other hand. Sackboy eagerly without hesitation took both, and turned back time for both of them....time and conflict and strife and even wonderment flashing back their eyes.

Later, Oswald watched the strange rocket leave with the stranger being fly off back into the stars. Perhaps someday his heart would be big enough to join him and his protector in the stars.

(Feel free to choose one to play for yourself)

So, for the first time in my history of Death Predictions, the most likely outcome is this fight ending in a stalemate.

Now don't get me wrong it is technically possible for either to kill the other, but that's true of almost any death prediction, this is my attempt to find the most likely outcome, and the most likely outcome is a stalemate between the two. While the two have numerous advantages over each other like Oswald being able to reprogram Sackbots or Sackboy being a more skilled fighter, it really comes down to the fact that neither can easily kill each other and in fact if the fight goes on too long it becomes impossible to kill each other.

Oswald has a strength advantage, with Sackboy scaling to being somewhat relative to a feat of around 1.3 Foe, while Oswald scales signifigantly above a feat that is very casually 3-4x that, if not higher. This combined with his ability to hit metafictional constructs nullifying Sackboy being a conceptual entity means Sackboy has only really two layers of defense. The problem for Oswald is that they are two absolutely insurrmountable defenses; Sackboy's Immortality and the Resistance provided by Create Mode.

Sackboy will return so long as one of the checkpoints exist. This functionally only leaves 3 ways of killing him; universal scale reality-warping/destruction, destroying every single checkpoint, or nullifying his regen. The first one is simply not something that Oswald can do. Even if you say Wasteland is a whole universe or that KH Mickey is universal, neither of which I'm convinced off, Oswald simply doesn't have the area of effect with his attacks regardless of actual attack potency. The second is also just impossible. Even though Oswald doesn't age, and even ignoring that checkpoints would most likely be made faster then he can destroy them, especially as Sackboy can make them himself, these checkpoints are not just cosmically far apart but some are in other dimensions. Oswald explictly couldn't leave the Wasteland and could not make inter-dimensional technology, only communication. While at the time he also couldn't leave because he lacked a heart, at the time he was unaware as he still tried to leave when he thought there was a hole in reality he could go through.

Finally Oswald could try to neg his regen. There's three possiblities for that; Aspect Removal, Thinner and Paint. While he does he have Aspect Removal and you could argue therefore could remove the regeneration aspect of Sackboy, Oswald's Aspect Removal lacks feats and it would be an NLF to suggest it could just remove a power of Sackboy's like that. Thinner can be used to metaficionally erase something, which might work on Sackboy since if his energy is just gone on a narrative level it may not be able to conceptually regen. Thinner's ability to take away essences like it would work but because Sackboy can purify himself with dreamer orbs, which are literally made of the same essence as him, I am skeptical of that working, though if it does render him insert that would work also be a win . Paint can be used to change something's traits to make them friendly. While this is only kind of a win con, it would undeniably work despite Sackboy's Immortality. But this brings us to Sackboy's other defense, his resistances from Create Mode which include resistances to all of his own abilities including having his traits changed and being erased, which are the only win cons that Oswald has. I did consider the possibility of Oswald using thinner on the Cerebrum-billical cord but not only is this something he would never knowingly do if he knew what it was (it would be destroying the imagination of people which is what sustains toons including him and is against what toons stand for, plus killing billions of people in the Imagisphere), but he is never implied to have even remotely enough thinner for that. Even the Phantom Blot who has by far more thinner then anyone in the Wasteland, being the Thinner Disaster itself and can unmake a multi-stellar sized dimension would be nothing to the Imagisphere which has thoughts ranging in size from the atomic to the galactic and is it's own universe.

This means the only really way for Oswald to win is if Sackboy starts in Play Mode and Oswald kills him before he switches to Create Mode. This is especially unlikely as how much paint/thinner Oswald carries on him at one time is completely unknown and it's not at all a standard tactic.

In contrast, Oswald doesn't have any huge individual defenses, but instead has a large number of smaller defenses that together form a barrier that could protect him in this fight. Oswald is several factors stronger then Sackboy, and that's not an insurrourmountable difference by itself. If Sackboy were to use things like explosives or the grabinator, he should be able to at least hurt Oswald. However Oswald has his own regen, good enough to return from being reduced to paint. To overcome that you can't just reach that level of power, you need to raw outstat that by many orders of magnitude. This isn't even taking into account that Oswald's body can bend and adjust itself to force. Raw physical force from Sackboy is simply not going to be able to put down Oswald.

As such Sackboy would have to rely on some form of hax to kill Oswald. Not a problem, he has plenty of hax. However most of his hax is existence erasure or altering the traits of things, two things Oswald has resistance too due to his battle against forces wielding thinner or paint respectively. This is very much not helped by the fact that Oswald is unlike anything Sackboy would have encountered; being able to outluck him, manipulate him, and sometimes just defying the laws of physics Sackboy controls via toonforce. Sackboy is used to fighting obviously evil enemies with raw power advantage, not something like this. Given Sackboy's character, he'd be very reluctant to hurt a rabbit regardless.

Now there are still ways Sackboy could kill Oswald however the central point is they all require his Popit. Oswald can affect meta constructs so I'm pretty sure he could actually just grab the Popit, especially because tactics Sackboy would try first once he enter Create Mode, things like telekinetically grabbing or erasing Oswald require him to move the cursor close to Oswald where Oswald could hypothetically grab it. I don't know if Sackboy can create a new Popit if his first one is stolen or destroyed because one has never physically interacted with the Popit in LittleBigPlanet. Given the Narrator introducing it with so much praise as to say it makes the sistine chapel look like something you'd stick on a fridge, I'm inclinded to believe it's special and that if Sackboy loses it he can't just make another. This means that without it, Sackboy would have almost no ability to do anything. He may not even have time manipulation as it's included as part of the "Popit powerup". While Sackboy has ways of killing Oswald, he's not likely to do them in character and because of the many more mild defenses Oswald has, Oswald is far more likely to first remove Sackboy's Popit.

Unfortunately for Oswald, of the few things Sackboy doesn't need his Popit to do, regeneration and Create Mode resistances are included. Unless one of them acts out of character it seems like the most likely result involves Sackboy going into Create Mode and Oswald removing his Popit before either kill one another, leaving the match an eternal stalemate.

This fight is a stalemate.

That was amazing imp chan! it was legit everything i wanted and more and i can REALLY tell you put a massive deal of thought into each and every potential power and character interaction that came up. Oswald here is often looked at as an incomplete character due to his failure to maintain his popularity after the 30s, and not advance with the times, You did an amazing job giving this classic old toon his due respect and did his character and personality justice, and im sure hed appreciate the publicity!
LBP was completely new to me but JEEZ it sounds amazing with its epic creative energy and symbolism as well as its wholesome characters, Sackboy is adorable and i just wanna give him cookies and headpats.
The powers were as wacky and crazy as i was promised! its really funny to me how these two can just continue to repeatedly break reality for their entire series, and then when you actually compare them on paper.... a match youd expect to be rot with completely unconnected bs powers where they can onshot eachother in a lot of ways....ends up being a totally even, organized show of perfect counter after perfect counter, and these are counters to really specific powers they just happened to have too! Incredible how well matched that was.

The Fight Scene itself was about as perfect as you could get with these two, as a cartoon authroity i must say, i couldnt have done better. You really thought out every possible power interaction and it was just so constantly engaging. I love how Oswald grabbed away his Popit disabling most of his arsenal, and how Sackboy super cleverly shifted day to night to neg Oswalds shadow powers. everything about this fight was super dynamic from having a battle of super senses, to attacking with hugs and singing, and it had beautiful symbolism near the end!

The Result was suprising to say the least, you and I have done a lot of Crazily close fights, including ones were there was barely any way for characters to win like Deep Blue VS Gargos or Jedah VS Lucemon, but still i never anticipated this, a DRAW (ha) But yeah when you lay it all out like you did in that analysis, wow it really would be a draw, theres a maybe 1/100,000 chance that it doesnt given their powers and character and that is really interesting.

but honestly if any of your fights had to end that way, might as well be these to wholesome lugs!

  3. That was a really fun blog. I enjoyed every moment of it. LittleBigPlanet is a game I used to play a lot and Epic Mickey is a game I thought about trying before. I just want to start out by saying you portrayed Sackboy perfectly; his loveable personality came across very well in the battle and I could tell you were very familiar with LBP as a series (especially the wacky little facial expressions :P). Oswald also came across as a pretty likeable character through your writing. I find it cool that this long forgotten, neglected character was given this interesting backstory that makes a lot of sense and a new life in Epic Mickey, even if the game series is no longer going currently unfortunately.

I gotta say, it was interesting to see your approach to writing an analysis of a cartoon character. You explained his abilities with an academic level of detail going over Oswald’s cartoon physiology and other attributes. Oswald actually had way more powers than I thought even with the assumption that you were taking both the cartoons and Epic Mickey into account. Kudos for looking into stuff like Oswald’s non-canon shorts, novelizations, and even lost cartoons as well.
    The battle was incredibly written.

I love the absurdity of Oswald matching his toon force and other abilities with Sackboy’s equally absurd creation abilities (and all those LBP game mechanics). There was a light and charming air to the battle even though it was a battle to the death. Shout out to the moment Oswald got WWI flashbacks :P. The soundtrack was perfect; even though a lot of tracks were from completely different series, they ended up fitting the characters and pacing of the battle amazingly, so great job on that Thor.

It’s amazing how thematic these two ended up being for each other, with the theme of creativity being a bigger part of Oswald’s backstory than I thought. One thing I like about matchups you and Thor make, is that they aren’t something everybody would come up with (that’s not to say popular matchups are bad, but I just love the creativity of matchups like this). They are such lighthearted characters as well so it feels thematically appropriate that it would end in a stalemate. I’m actually surprised it went that route, but the way you described how their powers, backstories, and personalities, it actually does make a lot of sense. So good job.

Brainiac should be a very interesting analysis blog. I remember watching him as a villain in the DCAU and thinking he was really cool (I thought he was Superman’s official arch enemy as a kid).

  4. Been really looking forward to this one, great job on making it! Now with a reaction like that, you may think one or more of these characters are favorites of mine, but the reason I'm excited is quite the opposite: I know almost nothing about either of them! That meant I was in for a blog full of nothing but new and exciting things to learn and that's exactly what you delivered; thanks Imp.

I never realized Mickey had a brother! That tragic backstory of being forgotten has quite the basis in the reality, and I'm glad the Epic Mickey games were able to shine a light on this entertaining, clever and powerful rabbit. Speaking of powerful, these two are nuts! Way more OP than their appearance would belie. I remember thinking as I read, "okay, Mickey is an extremely powerful cartoon character, so it makes sense Oswald would be this strong. But then, how busted must Sackboy be?!!" Create Mode seemed unfairly broken, and I think I was onto something because it did seem to be a focal point in the debate of who would win. Though even with that, I was struggling to try and figure out how either of them could permanently kill each other. Looks like I was on the right track there too, but more on that near the end.

I wanna give you props for "Spittlekinesis"; I think you just coined a new superpower. And aspect removal was one of Oswald's most intriguing powers imo, as the implications of it left a lot of silly OP options open. Paint and thinner, the powers of creation and destruction, were what blew me away in Oswald's section the most though. I thought his kit was well-rounded and strong enough by that point, and then you deliver the coup de grace to my amazed brain with these godlike ways of interacting with reality!

I've never played a LittleBigPlanet game, but I feel you introduced me to that world and its protagonist perfectly. It sounds like one of the most wonderful (in every sense of the word) fictional settings out there to be honest, and gives me the warm and fuzzies to think that my random thoughts and ideas could have such importance along with everyone else's. I always found Sackboy to be a weird lookin' little guy, but now I adore him. I'm a big fan of characters who can show a lot of personality without talking and he certainly fits the bill. I love stickers so that was a really neat ability/piece of equipment to read about, and his power to explode is hilarious! I don't think I've ever seen a character have so many game mechanics like checkpoints as part of their kit, which was really neat on a meta level. As I mentioned, Create Mode is where my mind got truly blown for this section of the blog. But who would come out on top?

This fight was amazing. I know, I know, I say that a lot, but this deserves to be considered one of your top death predictions. You did a fantastic job of calling back to the cartoons of old, shows that I loved in my youth. I especially enjoyed Oswald tapping his foot outside the Pod waiting for Sackboy to respawn. And on the LBP side of things, the battle filled me with wonder and curiosity, like the revelation of the snowy landscape halfway through and the sight of the Imagisphere near the end (felt like I was staring through Oswald's eyes and feeling the same as he was in that moment). The gas mask scene was a great reference to his WWI days, and Sackboy switching the day/night cycle in Create Mode to make Oswald's shadow disappear was a stroke of creative genius perfectly in line with that character. Continued in the reply.

    1. And the ending, wow! Things are gonna get spoilery, so anyone reading the comment section first (WHY?!) turn back now. I would imagine this'll go down as one of your most controversial conclusions. But before anybody gets their feathers ruffled, I'd urge them to fully read your reasoning. It was the most interesting argument for a stalemate that I've ever read, and trying to put aside my desire for neither of them to die as best I can, I agree with it. You did a great job of detailing why there can only be an end in one specific scenario that requires the characters to act out of character and I've always firmly believed that when you ask the question of who wins in a fight, you need to factor in the combatants' personalities and how they would behave in such a situation based on their established characters. When you take the character out of a character, that just leaves a skeleton of numbers and feats, which removes a lot of potential conversation about the battle and the debate is what makes this hobby fun. Excellently done Imp, thanks for the amazing, educational and entertaining blog!

Two last things. First, shoutout to Thor for the amazing use of music that elevated an already great fight even further. You and Imp are a killer combination! Second, I am so stoked for that next blog in the trailer. If I were allowed to pick the next DC villain you blog on, I would've chosen Brainiac or he'd be in my top three choices at the very least. Can't wait!!!
